How do YOU read the Bible in 90 Days? #B90Days

Are you a weekly reader, daily reader, bit by bit reader, or a combination?

Weekly Reader

Back when I first read the Bible in 90 days, we only had weekly check ins, as we met each Wednesday night, in person, to be held accountable, watch a video and discuss the reading. Because I was only ‘checked’ once a week, I would manage my reading as a weekly chunk rather than a daily chunk.

I would stick a sticky note on the last page of each week’s reading and then move my bookmark closer to that post it note with every reading session. I would read more some days and less others, with the goal to reach that weekly sticker by the time I met with my group each Wednesday night. Sometimes that meant hours read some days and nothing read other, and sometimes that meant a smooth even week of daily reading. It just depended what that week was like.

Daily Reader

Once I hosted Bible in 90 Days on MomsToolbox, I switched to become a daily reader. I would read the day’s assigned reading each and every day. After doing that for the first week, I realized how much I enjoyed taking that time each and every day to stop and read. Sure, some days were more challenging than others, but I made it happen. And I found that I liked it.
In addition to reading, I journaled about each day’s reading using SOAP and posted it on the blog for everyone to read. This definitely kept me on track with my reading each and every day, as I felt obligated to post each and every day.

All at Once Reader

On some days, and with both methods, sometimes I am an all-at-once reader, reading the entire assignment in one sitting, whether that be the day’s reading or several days due to the need to catch up. Sometime I enjoy all at once, because I love continuing in the Word when I make the time. Some passages and days just flow and the reading is exciting. Some days, though, it’s not so much like that. And that’s when being a bit-by-bit reader helps.

Bit by Bit Reader

Sometimes I like to break my reading up into two reading sessions. Sometimes I read in only 10-minute increments. And sometimes I’ll read while I am waiting for a pot to boil or the like (Really.) Bit by bit reading is great for keeping the Word with you all day long. I’ll keep my iPad or Bible out on the kitchen counter or carry it with me as I move about the house so I don’t forget to read as I find nuggets of time. Or I carry a reader with me in my purse and read while waiting on friend, a meeting or between errands.

Just be a reader!

It doesn’t matter what type of reader you are when it comes to the Bible in 90 Days. As I mentioned before, the goal of the program is to read, intently, every single word of the Bible in 90 days. Decide which method is for you, or try a few options to see what works. You might find that over different times over the next three months, that different method work at different times.
Whatever works for you, please just read, read, read and soak it all in with us! (And don’t forget to check in!)

Thanks for reading the Bible in 90 Days with me!

  1. I started reading two days worth of reading last week, I couldn’t explain why I just felt prompted to read first thing and then again before bed. This past Thursday I got very sick and now I’m so thankful I got a bit ahead so the stress of falling behind didn’t hinder my recovery.

I am using the Kindle version of the B90 and I like that I don’t have to keep track of anything. I just read until it tells me I have finished the reading for the day. Sometimes I read a little of the next day if I have extra time then.
