Make your own float for the Children’s Museum of Houston’s Thanksgiving parade

Join in the parade this Thanksgiving at the Children’s Museum of Houston’s Thanksgiving with Santa celebration.

Joining in this parade means you get to make your own float and wear it as you parade through the museum, followed by Santa. The museum provides the supplies and a little direction and you and your kids get to go crazy creating.

Before I became a mom, I worked at the Children’s Museum and I loved all of our parades… and the kids always had a blast. I have no doubt this parade, in its 7th year, is just as much fun as the ones I got to watch during my years there. And if you do go, definitely bring your camera, as the kids will have the chance to meet Santa after the parade.

Here’s the nitty gritty on the Thanksgiving float making, parade & Santa meet and greet:

  • Thanksgiving Float Making: Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Thanksgiving Parade: Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.
  • Santa Meet-and-Greet: Nov. 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. (Following parade)

In addition to the parade, here are more turkey activities for kids:

  •  Gobble, Gobble: Design a wild turkey caller at EcoStation.
  • Turkey Trivia: Turkey and Thanksgiving. Learn about how it happened at EcoStation.
  • Wild Turkey: Learn facts about turkeys at EcoStation.
  • Turkey Hats: Make a fashionable hat at Junktion to wear to Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Cornucopia: Fill your “horn of plenty” with colorful fruits and veggies at Junktion.
