Memories to Share: Memory #11

memories-to-share-post

Christmas morning means different things to different families. For some families it is all about Jesus. For other families it is all about Santa Claus. For most families, it is somewhere between the two.

What was Christmas morning like when you were a child? What stands out to you the most? Consider the seemingly silly and frivolous as well as the serious. Did your family talk about Jesus coming into this world? Did you talk about Santa’s reindeer? Did you talk about Aunt Eleanor’s famous stuffing or the football season? Did your extended family gather on Christmas Day and, if so, did they all gather at once or was it more open house style?

Week 11’s prompt is:

Tell about Christmas morning when you were a child.

Week 11’s bonus prompt is:

What are some favorite traditions that your family observed?

Yep, I added a bonus prompt this week because I think Christmas morning and Christmas traditions can be different and equally telling of family stories and memories that should be shared.

Think back to any Christmas traditions you experienced as a child, or share those traditions which you may have started later in life. What were they? This could cover anything from making homemade wassail, looking at Christmas lights, worshipping at Midnight Mass, or opening gifts one at a time versus everyone opening at once. Your traditions might be about celebrating Advent or sponsoring another family’s Christmas celebration or an annual fun run. They might even be about blending two cultures or decorating your tree.

What is your story?

Your family’s stories are important and they should be shared. Please take my gifts and use them to share your memories for he future!

Tell about one of those things on this week’s Memories to Share sheet (and/or the bonus sheet) and keep it to share later or share it tonight over dinner. Of course you may also share here in the comments, if you’d like.
