Mom’s Toolbox Advent Activity: December 1

MomsToolbox

Up until Christmas, I will be sharing one Advent Activity per day for moms and families. (If you aren’t a mom, don’t worry. Many of the more mom-like activities can easily be adapted for anyone.)

I hope you will try out and enjoy these little gifts for your family from me. It is my prayer that you will find them to be a great way to have fun and get into the Christmas spirit.

MomsToolbox Advent Activity for December 1:

Get ready for Christmas part 1:  Spend some time thinking about what you like about Christmas and the Christmas season. Write down your thoughts.

That’s it for today! Take some time and enjoy it. And come back tomorrow for your next Advent Activity.

But before you go, please share some of your initial thoughts: What are some of the things you like about Christmas and the Christmas season?

  1. I know the season always seems busy, but I really cherish those moments of quiet and reflection under the pretty decorations and lights.

  2. I must say that as a kid I loved the presents. But not so much anymore, actually I enjoy giving more than receiving. I love being able to spend time with family and friends. I love the special feeling of love and “magic” that is in the air at this time of year. My favourite part about the season is trying to find little ways to show people I care about how much I love them. It’s really about people to me this season, that and showing to love of Christ through my actions.

  3. I used to love the presents about Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy presents but lately I have been thinking much more about why me and my family celebrate this season. I have known for many years that it is to celebrate Jesus birthday but our traditions didn’t really reflect that. I have been really thinking about what traditions are family are making together. I am trying to teach my children the true meaning of the holyday season. This year, we are memorizing Luke 2. We made a chain link to count down to Christmas Day. Each link has a verse of the Luke 2 on it. As they memorize the days verse, they will get a glittery star to put on their bedroom door. We are excited to be memorizing this together.

    1. I LOVE your Luke 2 chain idea! Fantastic!

  4. I love everything about Christmas. It is by far my favorite holiday season.

The thing I love the most is the time we take to reflect on Christ and His gift to us.

  5. This year we are reading the book The Jesse Tree each evening and making our own ornaments. I want to shift the focus away from materialism and back on the wonder of the Gift God gave us!
