November is all about service

My discussion group friends should be in here an about a half an hour. We are going to wrap up October’s topic of finance over dinner, wine and dessert. I am looking forward not only to sharing a meal with friends, but also to hearing what everyone else has to say about their books. (We meet every first and third Monday to discuss our topic of the month.)

Tonight I will also announce the new topic, which will be service.

If you are up for joining in the fun (and learning) this month, please select any book on service and read along with us. I wish I could have all of you over for dinner, but since that is not possible, the blog will have to do.

If you have any books to suggest, please leave a comment today.

Next Tuesday we’ll share our titles and then by the last Tuesday of the month, November 25 (if you are a blogger) please write a post about your book. That Tuesday you’ll have the opportunity to link back to your post on your book from here.

If you are not a blogger, please feel free to participate and leave your observations in the comments. I certainly don’t want anyone to be left out!

But back to the topic at hand: Please select any book on any aspect of service. It could be a book on serving your family, serving the Lord, serving your country, serving the needy, serving internationally, serving your husband, serving guests in your home… whatever you would like to learn about right now.

You could also read about someone else’s service or an organization’s service to a group or individual.

Last night I came across a book on serving your family that I think I would like to read. I think I could use a little direction in that right now. And I’m open to receiving it. I’ll keep you posted on my decision, soon, though.

Okay… so read any good books on serving lately? Or did you come across any recently that caught your eye? Fill us in on the goodies!

And then make your choice and read away.

Gotta go light the candles! 15 minutes until my guests arrive…
