PEACE and breaking down barriers… More from Ephesians 2

Bible Study with MomsToolbox.com

Thanks to those of you who jumped over to follow me on Instagram yesterday. I appreciate it. We are past “that” number now. Thanks!

This morning I read Ephesians 2:11-22 several times. That passage is so power-packed. It’s possible I’ll revisit it tomorrow or Saturday, as there is so so much in there.

This morning, though, I want to zero in on Ephesians 2:14.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

Peace. I could sure use some of that. The whole world could sure use a lot of that.

Jesus came to bring us peace. He came to destroy a barrier, not build one. He came to show love and kindness to ALL people, not just a select group, not just those who follow Him, not just those who play by the rules or who embrace the same ideals that we do, but ALL.

The Hard Rock Cafe motto just jumped to mind:

Love all. Serve all.

Yep, that’s what Jesus was and is all about. Wouldn’t you agree?

Peace, breaking down barriers, loving everyone and yes, even serving them.

Here is my prayer for this morning:

Father God, thank you for this gift of peace you shared with us in your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for sending him to us to break down barriers. That was revolutionary then and still is today. When we are scared and want to let those barriers jump in our way of showing love to all, please, Lord, remind us of the peace that comes from You, from Jesus. Help us to love all and to serve all, following the example Christ set for us. Help all of us to continue Jesus’ work of bridging gaps and breaking down barriers, making two groups one… or perhaps all groups one. I long for peace. I know I am not alone. Guide us in reaching out and getting there.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

PS: Candace over at His Mercy Is New also talked about this verse on Instagram this morning. You might want to check out what she had to say, too.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope you have many moments of peace in your celebrations today, tomorrow and, well, always.
