Please pray for the Berry children… and my friend Jen

It’s not often that I use MomsToolbox to ask others to support something.
But this I feel compelled to do.

A few weeks ago I texted a dear friend of mine a short, playful message. She responded that so much was going on in her life.

Fortunately, I couldn’t even imagine the pain she had faced. Yes, she had a lot going on in her life just then.

“Check my Facebook page,” her text read…

A friend of hers had been returning home from a vacation on a regular roadtrip when a car swerved into her lane, killing her and her husband and leaving her three very young children as orphans. The two boys, who are about my boys’ ages, are paralyzed. Their daughter, who is about my daughter’s age, is faring pretty well with just a few broken bones.

I am sure you can imagine my helplessness at reading her status updates and links to news stories.

The next morning Jen and I met for coffee and I listened to Jen’s story of her friends and what she was doing to help. We cried. I prayed and I went home stunned.

Yesterday Jen sent me a link to the Show Your Hearts Campaign. Amazingly, a bunch of celebrities have joined forces to help raise money for the care of these children. The cost of their care is in the millions and the family is even more uprooted to be sure the boys get the treatment and recovery they need.

I am asking you to lift these children and their friends and family up in prayer. Please pray for healing. Please pray for their comfort and please pray that they find their strength in our Father.

And please pray for Jen as she struggles to make sense of it all. There is no way that she can, but I want her to know that I am not the only one praying for her.

Thank you. I really, really appreciate this.

The outpouring for this family has been incredible. Thursday night, one of our jewelers here in Houston held a benefit auction for them.

Continuing to pray for the children and the aunt and uncle who are now caring for them.

  3. Praying for the children and they find strength and comfort in the Lord. I pray they are surrounded by His people and for healing both physically and emotionally. I pray for Jen and wisdom and peace that He can give.

  4. “Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
There are no words, but God’s words, to heal the hurt and help this family through this very difficult time. May His light shine through many people God sends their way to assist them in this new journey in life. Hugs, tears, & prayers and may the God of all healing help these children through it all. Thanks for sharing. They’ll be lifted up as often as possible.
