Psalm 66: He was there in the struggle and He will be there in the abundance

bible-study-post

Hello, friends.

I’m sorry it has been awhile since you have heard from me.

Although I haven’t posted SOAP in a few days, I can assure you I have been in prayer. I think I have been in prayer more over the last 5 days than I have been in the last 5 months. Things have been hard.

Perhaps someday, when the time is right, I will share what I have been facing. For now, though, I can only share that it has been pretty awful and heartbreaking and confusing. And that, fortunately, I have felt the Holy Spirit with me the whole time, guiding me.

I may not have posted SOAP, but I read Psalm 66 each and every day, with so many verses within it having strong meaning and messages for me. Today, I’ll share what has grabbed me the most.

Here is what grabbed me in Psalm 66 when applying SOAP:

Scripture: Psalm 66:12

you let men ride over our heads;

we went through fire and water;

yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

Observation:

You let some really bad stuff happen and dealing with those things was hard,

but you led me and my family through them and to a place of hope and promise.

Application:

The last week has been awful. It has held experiences I don’t wish on anyone. IT held fire and water. And yet, through all of it, I knew God was right there with me. I don’t know why it happened. Maybe someday I will know. Maybe I won’t. But I do know that God was right there with me and that the storm, or at least the first  part of it, was weathered with Him. (I sure hope it is over, but I think there could be more.) He brought me out of it (or this first round) and wants us to see the abundance ahead. He has a lot of goodness in store.

If you are in a storm, please reach out to Him. Please reach out to Him regularly even if you are not in a storm, so you can be more ready when one comes. He will lead you through the garbage to abundance. Even really, really big garbage. Trust me.

My SOAPs are usually all-inclusive, so bear with me as I deviate a bit:

Two books are guiding me in my battle and I want you to know about them:

**Both are available on Amazon, I linked to the ministry page for the first one so you could see the ministry.  I am not using affiliate links in this post.

I hope to fill you in more later on each of those. For now, I don’t want a moment to pass if someone out there needs to know about them.

Prayer:

Lord, you are an awesome, amazing, loving God. You are sovereign. And you are faithful. Thank you for pulling us through all we have been facing lately, and pulling me through my whole life. I am so fortunate to have met you as a child and had you to talk to and guide me. Thank you.

Lord, I need your guidance. I need your encouragement and I need your direction. As you know, I am making my way out of the woods, but I am not in the clear, yet. This verse shows me that you know my struggle and you know true abundance is ahead. This whole Psalm speaks volumes to me. Perhaps that is why I have been unable to post. Perhaps you wanted me to sit on this one longer.

Thank you, Lord, for being with me. Thank you for showing me your love. Thank you for sending friends to pray for me and to show me how to pray, to cover myself in your armor.

I love you. I need you. I am grateful to see the abundance. Thank you, Lord.

Amen.

  1. So right so on point. I tend to find myself forgetting to thank Him and praise Him even during the good times. I know He is with me and helping me along every day of my life. He does make the struggles easier to bear.

  2. This message is right on time. I’m in the storm of my life, but God is right here.
