Scripture: John 15:4
Remain in me and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
Observation: Without God, I cannot bear any good fruit. I cannot do any good thing without him. If I choose to remain in him, however, he will remain in me.
Application: God gives me the choice to be with him or reject him. By choosing to remain in him, he will also remain in me and enable me to do good things. I must make the choice daily to remain in him, to remain in his word and to follow his teachings. Then he will enable my efforts to be fruitful.
Prayer: Oh Lord, I so often feel like I am not bearing any good fruit. I get frustrated and down on myself. Thank you for this reminder that through you I will bear fruit. I will show and share your love, provided I remain in you. Thank you for this promise. Please keep me on the vine.
