Show us your strength, O God… (Guidance in Psalm 68)

Good morning, sweet friends.

I was thrilled with the intent of writing to you regularly once again and then, well, life got in the way once again. Tasks mounted. Time slipped. Pressure and frustration grew.

I kept reading the Psalms daily, except yesterday. Somehow I missed yesterday.

Today, as I opened my journal to begin my reading of Psalm 68, I saw the end of my journal entry from Friday:

“I NEED HELP!!” was scrawled at the top of my page. It was tired, weary, frustrated with managing the household chores.

I slid into Psalm 68. And here is what I wrote in my journal about that:

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens."
--Psalm 68:19

This prayer flowed:

Thank you, Father. I need help with my burdens. It is encouraging to read and remember that you ARE right here with me– holding them, ready to guide when I am ready to listen and follow.

Please, oh PLEASE, Father, guide me, show me what to prioritize and how to do it. Help me to align my work with YOUR will and to do as YOU direct.

All that needs to get done can and will get done. Show me how, please. Please help me to drop the ancillary and focus just on what honors you.

I continued reading and found the following:

"Summon your power, O God,
Show us your strength, O God, as you have done before."
--Psalm 68:28

and then:

"You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary;
the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
Praise be to God."
-Psalm 68:35

I need Him. He’s got me. He always has had me.

And he can have you, too.

He IS awesome in his sanctuary and gives power and strength to his people. We must ask, believe Him and follow his guidance.

I pray that I do just this today (and always) and I pray the same for you.

In Love,

Amy
