SOAP Daily Devotional: What’s keeping you from being bold?

When I’m not reading through the Bible in 90 Days, I use this reading plan to keep me in the Word daily.

If you aren’t already following a daily plan, or you are between plans, I hope you’ll consider joining me. Just jump in on today’s date.

Today’s Reading: Job 18, Psalm 114, Acts 27-28

Here’s what I heard today using SOAP:

Scripture: Acts 28: 31

Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Observation:

Paul, who was being held to stand trial, feared nothing in sharing the message about the Lord. And so He didn’t hold back in sharing the truth.

Application:

What do I fear when I think about sharing about the Lord?

Paul had his comfort and life to fear, and yet that did not stop him. Even while he was being held to stand trial, he did not hold back. He didn’t fear for his life. He didn’t worry about what others would think of him. He had the bigger picture in mind and served the Lord alone without hesitation.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for this example in Paul.

Please guide all of your children and followers to share your love boldly and honestly. Forgive us when we hold back and are afraid to use our influence for you. Show us the opportunities you have created for us to share the truth and guide us as we open our mouths, tap or keyboards or glide our pen over paper. Remind us of Paul and all he risked. Most of us only need risk much, much less in sharing your truth. So why do we let it hold us back?

Thank you for the gifts you have given me. Please guide me as I use them for you alone.
