SOAPing Esther– Remember what He has shown you

bible-study-featured

I’m reading and SOAPing my way through Esther. Today I am sharing my SOAP response to chapter nine.  If you’re looking for a devotional guide or Bible reading plan, I’d love for you to join me. Here’s what stood out to me today:

Scripture: Esther 9:28

These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city. And these days of Purim should never cease to be celebrated by the Jews, nor should the memory of them die out among their descendants.

Observation:

It is important that this day, and the events leading up to it not be forgotten.

Application:

So often I get caught up in the daily to dos and the struggles facing me such that I forget the beautiful experiences and examples of God’s love that have already happened. God works in majestic ways. Remembering those events and seeing his sovereignty can be absolutely inspiring. His gifts and examples of sovereignty and grace can only be inspiring and comforting again and again, though, if we remember them.

To do that, I know I need to take more steps to record his blessings so that I can be reminded of them and blessed by them repeatedly.

Prayer:

Lord, you have blessed me again and again in my life. It amazes me when when I do take the time to look back and line up some of those blessings in my mind. You have given me so so much. I sometimes wonder why you choose to bless me so much, but I certainly smile as I wonder, taking in the crazy good things you have shown me and given me.

Show me, Lord, the best way to record those so that I can reflect on them better. You have given me so much to call up when I’m feeling frustrated or down. Show me how to better remember those things. And, please, keep those blessings coming. I love how you lavish me! Thank you!

Are you reading alongside me? If so, what grabbed you in today’s passage?  And how do you remind yourself of His blessings and guidance in your life? Please tell me in the comments…

If you’d like to join me, tomorrow I will be sharing my SOAP response to chapter ten of Esther.

If you disagree with something I’ve shared or another commenter shares, please remember to be respectful in your response back. You might even want to remember the old adage that you ‘catch more flies with honey than vinegar.’ Please use kind, respectful words or your comment may not remain.

  2. Esther 9:2 – “Everyone was afraid of the Jews, and no one
could do anything to oppose them.” No weapon made to attack us will be successful (Isaiah 54:17). If we’re following God and living right with Him, our enemies have got no chance.
