The Power of the Holy Spirit can be in You. Acts 1

Today we are reading chapter 1 of Acts. Here’s what I heard in the reading:

Scripture: Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Observation:

The Holy Spirit brings power to you and you will share about me, sending the message everywhere.

Application:

Receiving the Holy Spirit today brings the same Holy Spirit and power that the original disciples received. It was up to them to spread the word about Jesus then and it is up to us to embrace that same power and share the same message today.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to guide me. And thank you for this realization that I am receiving the same Holy Spirit as all those ‘greats’ I read about in the Bible. That same Holy Spirit and power is in me. Guide me in calling upon that and applying it in the ways you intend. With you, I really can do anything. Please guide me and keep me on track. Help me to spread your message as you would like for me to do.

What about you?

Did you realize that current day believers have the same Holy Spirit dwelling within us as the original disciples did? That’s pretty powerful stuff! What are you doing to access the power of the Holy Spirit and spread the word?

Or what else spoke to you in today’s reading?

There are so many Christians today that do not believe this and entire denominations that teach the holy spirit doesn’t come in power the way he did in the bible. I had been a believer for 20 yrs before I realized that this power really was available to me. My first bible in 90 days read made me see this and the holy spirit will come in power if you simply ask. I have seen miracles in my own life this yr, beyond anything I could have done alone.

  2. I’m reading this aloud each a.m. with my 5 and 8 year olds. My 8 year old thought it was neat that God spoke to the disciples directly to tell them which man to add to their number (Matthias). She is getting so hungry to hear God’s voice clearly; I thought that was neat.

  3. The first verse struck me, but the idea is very much the same. You can read my post here. http://wp.me/p25WWV-f1
