This from a girl who didn’t understand the whole “praying for strangers thing” about a year ago…

Wow. I am so moved I can’t even write/ type. Bear with me.

A friend of a bloggy friend has a child with cancer. Yes, I know that unfortunately there are many, many children and grown-ups out there with cancer.

But this family has already lost one child to cancer. (And yes, I know there are lots of families touched many times by cancer. Just hang in with me.)

This family needs our help. And we’ve been asked to help.

The mom has said that often the only thing that keeps her going is knowing that people are out there who are praying for her family. Even people she doesn’t know.

Enter The Maxey Family Letter Project.

My bloggy friend is asking anyone who is willing to email their prayers for this family to a special blog and email address she has set up for this project. She plans to bind all the letters into a book for the family, so they will always know that they are being lifted in prayer.

Wow. What a beautiful gift. Not just of prayer, but of a tangible record of the prayer.

Please, go visit the blog my friend has set up for this endeavor. Read about the Maxey’s story. And then take part. And pass on hope to the Maxey family. They could use some.

But don’t let it stop there. This is a gift you can give to so many others, as well. How many times have you prayed for someone else? Probably lots. Do you let them know you’ve prayed for them? How wonderful do you think it would be for those you pray for to see some of your prayers about them, too?

No, you don’t need to launch a letter writing/ prayer campaign for every prayer request. But sending a note with your prayer every now and then would surely touch their hearts. And remind them that God is listening.

So here’s my message:

Please, write a letter and pray for the Maxey’s.

And, please, write letters and pray for the people you are already praying for. And I will take a lesson here, too.

Let’s pass the Lord’s love on.
