What am I doing?

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Observation: What you do for the Lord is lasting, so keep doing it.

Application: With so many ‘to dos’ coming at me it is hard to discern what REALLY needs to be done and what I would like to do. The items on my list that will glorify the Lord are those that need to get done. (And, yes, the Lord is glorified by doing the dishes. Provided I do them without grumbling. Doing the dishes is part of the role God designed for me as a homemaker, wife and mother.) The others are optional. And I need to reconsider them.

Prayer: Lord, you know I have put myself in an overwhelming position. Please guide me in using your perspective on my to do list. I give this day to you. I give my life to you. Show me what I need to do, and guide me in re-prioritizing through your eyes. Guide me in only doing things through which you can be glorified… and remind me to think of your glory when I do the necessary yet mundane. Show me how you can be glorified through my actions. I need your help in going through the mess of what I think I need to do and discerning what you would instruct.. Help me to do what is lasting, and turn my back on the requests and urgings that are not. And thank you, Lord, for your grace and guidance when I make the wrong decisions.
