What do I hold as truth that is not?

Scripture: Luke 13:15-16

15But the Lord replied, “You hypocrite! You work on the Sabbath Day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from their stalls on the Sabbath and lead them out for water? 16Wasn’t it necessary for me, even on the Sabbath day, to free this dear woman from the bondage in which Satan has held her for eighteen years?

Observation: Jesus healed on the Sabbath and the leader of the synagogue was angry. Jesus explained that the leader’s line of thinking, which this leader genuinely believed was correct, was wrong. Freeing people from Satan’s grasp is work to be done every day.

Application: I read this and it is so clear to me that the synagogue leaders were wrong. But I wonder how confusing everything must have been for them. And then I wonder what truths that I hold dear will be disproved when I come face to face with Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for enlightening the world with your true, selfless love. And thank you for sharing your truth. Forgive me for the many times your truth challenges what is in my earthly, human heart. Guide me in creating a heart as you would have it be. Thank you for your forgiveness of my many missteps… both those I recognize and those I will come to recognize.
