Working to be prepared- spiritually and otherwise: Proverbs 6

Thank you for reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with me. This is what I heard, using the SOAP format. Please share what you heard in the comments. Thanks!

Scripture: Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;

consider its ways and be wise!

It has no commander,

no overseer or ruler,

yet it stores its provisions in summer

and gathers its food at harvest.

Observation:

The ants, on their own, prepare for the future and work to get done what needs to be done.

Application:

I wonder if the Word is not just talking about storing up physical food, but is also talking about spiritual nourishment here, too.

Perhaps He is telling us to get our physical work done, but also to store up His Word in our hearts so that if and when trouble hits, we will have a firm foundation of knowledge and a strong relationship with the Lord to guide us and protect us.

So often I hear from Bible in 90 Days readers that they were thankful they had read with me because it prepared them for things that they had no idea were coming.

I need to be diligent both in getting my regular tasks done and in my reading and studying of the Bible so I can also be prepared in what may come.

 Prayer:

Lord, thank you for calling me to be with you and to read your Word. Please guide me as I store your Word in my heart and please guide me to get in motion rather than procrastinate on so many things, whether that be my prayer time, study time or tasks at home or for my sites.

I love you, Lord. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with me.

  1. I selected the same scripture.
O: Dont be lazy, but diligently and consistently work at the tasks assigned to me.
A: Be like the ant! Just keep going. And do what I know to do because it is right, not because there is someone there watching me to enforce law.

  2. I really appreciate your spiritual application insights on these verses. So good. This is the same passage that stood out to me in the reading, but God spoke a different message to my heart.
