Yoga on the Meadow to benefit Nora’s Home THIS Saturday in Houston

Grab your yoga mat and water bottle for a day of yoga and yoga-inspired activities at The Houstonian (in Houston, of course!)  this Saturday, April 1st, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to benefit  Nora’s Home, Houston’s haven for organ failure and transplant patients receiving care in the Texas Medical Center.

The yoga is free, but bring money for a raffle, treats, vendors and more. This is one benefit that will be relaxing and very worthwhile– much like the atmosphere at Nora’s Home.

There will be seminars, yoga, tree-holding contests and more. Click over for a full schedule of Yoga on the Meadow.

“What’s Nora’s Home?” you ask.

Nora’s Home, which was founded in honor of 7-year-old Nora who was killed in an automobile accident, but whose organs, and a part of her, lived on in others whose lives she saved, provides affordable lodging to families of those waiting on organ transplants themselves.

Nora’s Home has served more than 680 families from more than 33 states, Puerto Rico and Mexico, providing 15,000 + night stays since opening. Unfortunately, the facility has to turn away five families for every one family they can serve. Fundraisers such as Yoga on the Meadow will help raise funds and visibility to help the facility grow, with plans to double the number of family rooms from 16 to 32.

One such family who benefits from Nora’s Home is 4-year-old  Maria, and her mom Mariela, have been waiting for a heart at Texas Children’s Hospital.

“The process of waiting for a heart is not easy. To have a 4-year-old understand everything that’s going on is hard work. Staying away from home and moving a lot has been a hassle. The moment we walked into Nora’s Home we felt a warm welcome. My daughter and I have been blessed with amazing people who have poured their hearts out to make us feel cared for. To watch my daughter smile every time she sees the staff is a blessing that I am thankful for. Nobody said it would be an easy journey but the team at Nora’s Home has helped us,” said Mariela.

With this gorgeous weather, and such an incredible cause, can you think of a better thing to in Houston this Saturday than go outside, enjoy a little yoga and also help other families in the process?
