Ephesians 1: 15-21: He has some SERIOUS power. This prayer calls it forward.

Good morning, friends. Today’s reading really packs a powerful punch. I cannot pick out just one verse, it is all so gorgeous and super relevant. Bear with me as I modify my SOAP plan and pretty much SOAP the whole thing.

This passage is an ideal one to pray for your children, or really anyone you care about, or really any believer. It’s also a great one to write out and remember to pray again and again, even for yourself. I have a feeling this one will make it on my bathroom mirror at some point.

Okay, here goes:

Scripture: Ephesians 1:15-21

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit and wisdom of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might so that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.

(Excerpted from the ESV Bible.)

Observation:

Since I know of your faith in Christ and love of other believers, I thank God for you and pray for you. It is my prayer that you will truly see his glory, experiencing and understanding:

  • glorious hope to which he has called YOU
  • the true riches that come from him
  • the amazing power that comes from him, thanks to Christ
  • that He truly is all-powerful above ALL

Application:

This is some serious stuff, y’all. I love all of this.

I will certainly by praying through this scripture for many people in my life, including myself.

Ephesians 1:15-21 reminds not only of His love for us, but that He has a plan for us (and it is glorious), He wants to shower us with riches, including eternal life with Him, He has some crazy amazing power and ,with Him, all evil forces ARE overcome.

Yesssss!

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for your glorious Word. Thank you for your promise of good things and the incredible power that can only come through you.

Please, Lord, I ask that you empower my children and family. I thank you for Gary, Michael, Jack, and Natalie. Please enable each of us to truly see and experience your glory daily. Enlighten our hearts so that we may see the hope that comes from You, the riches that come from the inheritance we share in You, and may remember (and call on as needed) the power that comes from You, which is stronger than any other force.

I trust you, Lord. Even through the bumps and bruises I know you are here. Help me to recall this during those times, and in the joyful times as well.

Thank you, Lord, for your love and power.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

My reading schedule comes from Candace at His Mercy is New. (I think I’ll go ahead and pray for her, as well as all of you, from today’s passage as well!)

Tomorrow’s reading is Ephesians 1:22-23.

  2. Beautiful words for a beautiful time of year!
