The following is a little Bible in 90 Days push and inspiration from Group #1 mentor Andrea. You might notice on the sidebar that Andrea has already finished reading this session already… Way to go, Andrea!!!
In the Summer of 2010 I become acquainted with Amy and Mom’s Toolbox. I was quite intrigued by the concept of B90Days. I have been a Christian for a long time (30 + years) and had read through the Bible several times. The idea that I could read it through in 90 days piqued my interest so much that I signed up.
And my life has been forever changed.
I have been blessed by the seeing the story of the Scriptures unfold. Never before have I seen how the Old and New Testaments fit together as such a cohesive unit. So many questions I have always had about the Bible have been answered.
Other than my salvation, making the commitment to read the Bible in 90 days and then following through is one of the most groundbreaking spiritual decisions I have ever made.
Do you (or I) understand the gravity of what you have done? Maybe this is your first time reading the Bible through. Maybe it’s your 50th. Most Christians have never read through the entire Bible and you have (almost) read it through in 90 days!
These last few days seem to be the hardest. This is my third time reading through in 90 days and I will tell you from experience that even though the reading is a bit easier (the NT), the days seem to be busier. Here are just a few things I would like to encourage you with:
- Remember your initial commitment. Think back. Not too far back. . .think back to July. We were in the middle of what seemed like the hottest, driest, shortest summer ever. Do you remember? Do you remember the day you heard about B90Days? Do you remember why you committed? Revisit those days. Grab ahold ofwhat you committed to do and why you committed to do it.
- Renew your commitment, to HIM. Remember that ultimately the commitment you made was to HIM. Yes, you told Amy that you would read. You contacted your mentor and told her that you would read. You may have shared your commitment with family and friends. But the truth of the matter is, you made a commitment to Jesus. If there is one thing that I have learned in the past year or two is that HE desires a relationship with us. When we seek Him, it also increases our desire to fellowship with Him. Bible reading and prayer are tools that we use to develop a deeper relationship with Him.
- Recommit to finish, regardless of the opposition you face. The “hard” reading is behind us. The New Testament is easier reading because it’s so familiar to us. This is the exciting stuff. We get to see how it all ends (Just wait until you get to the book of Revelation!) You initially committed to 90 days. We have just about a week left. We can make it in a week!
We are in the seventh inning stretch.
We are at the end of the marathon and our calves are burning.
We are in the last semester of our senior year and we have “senior-itis!”
It’s crunch time ladies! It’s time to buckle down and “get ‘er done.” You can do it!
Are you with me?
