A Psalm A Day: Day 5, Psalm 5

Good morning from New Orleans!

I hope you read with me yesterday, even though I did not post here or on the MomsToolbox YouTube channel. We were traveling to New Orleans and had a few curveballs thrown at us. The reading happened, the prayer and journaling happened, but the posting did not.

I’m back this morning, though, finding time before work and then the jazz happens.

Here’s what I heard in Psalm 5 this morning:

Scripture

"Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me." --Psalm 5:8

and

"For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as a shield." --Psalm 5:12

Observation

The psalmist wants the Lord to lead his path, to be directed in just what to do, knowing that folowing His direction leads to good results… the best results.

Application

That is what I want. I want to do his work– here, in my role as a parent, as a wife, as a friend and as the CEO of my business. I want to follow his path and not be swayed by enemy barbs, input or distractions.

Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for making your word accessible to me. I am so fortunate to get to read your word, to pray your word and to gain direction from you, the creator of the world.

Father, please make straight your way before me. Please, oh please, guide me in using my time, my energy and my efforts today (and always) to serve you and your purpose. There is no doubt in my mind that you bless the righteous (I am so thankful that I am made righteous through your Son. Without him I’d be in big trouble!) and that you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Thank you for your favor, your protection, your love.

Guide me, please.

I feel like I am juggling a lot this morning. Show me what to do. Show me what to drop. Show me what to delay. And guide me in staying strong on YOUR direction, not the influence of the enemy or any enemies.

I love you.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Thank you, friends, for being here.

In Love,
