Hi, I’m Amy. Welcome to MomsToolbox!
It is my hope that you will find tools for real life here… tools that will help you in managing your home, guide you in better family living, bring you inspiration and joy, help you decide what to eat, show you how to blog for good and develop public relations skills, and also help in your Bible study.
When I first became a mom, it took a little (okay, a LOT of) adjustment. Now I’m a mom to three young children, a two-time foreign exchange mom and I’m much more comfortable in my role as “mom.”
In creating MomsToolbox, I am calling on my pre-mom journalism and public relations skills and adding them to my mom experiences to build a place for all of the resources I wish I had at the start, as well as the best resources I am finding to use now.
Before I became a mom, my last job was directing the public relations for The Children’s Museum of Houston. I loved all of the hard work which resulted in coverage in the New York Times, Newsweek, USA Today, Parents, several in-flight magazines and prime placements in local and regional media. I loved pitching stories and hosting live shots from the museum as well as serving as the museum’s spokesperson. Plus, I got to fine-tune the museum’s website and establish a press-center there, among other tasks. My work was recognized in PRWeek when our two-person public relations team was repeatedly chosen as a runner up as the best Non-Profit Public Relations Team of the Year during my tenure.
Now I serve as a wife, mom of three, volunteer, Girl Scout leader, online missionary and Bible study facilitator, and I blog here on MomsToolbox, as well as at MomsTravelTales and VineSleuth Uncorked. I am honored to be a contributing writer for Life As Mom and also Tommy Nelson. My husband and I enjoy traveling with our kids and we also cycle annually in a two-day, 180-mile ride to combat Multiple Sclerosis.
I hope this gives you a better picture of who I am and I look forward to learning more about you.
Please consider following me on Facebook and Twitter and always feel free to jump in the conversation here by leaving comments on any of my posts or emailing me anytime. I welcome Public Relations pitches, so if you have a potential story or promotion for me, please tell me all about it.
