B 90 Days Week 6/ Day 36 Check in

Greetings Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days/ Bible in 90 Days readers!

If you started with us on July 2, then you are already more than 1/3 of the way there!

Stick a bookmark in your Bible, turn it sideways and look at how much of His Word you have read consecutively! Pretty cool, don’t you think?

And even cooler is what you must be hearing from Him through all of this time you have spent together! And also cool is how many new people have been praying for you since July 2!

Even if you are not caught up, I would guess that you are still much farther along than you would have been had you not been reading with us. And that’s something worth sticking to… right?

To those of you who are not caught up and feeling a little frustrated, I have this to say:

No, you may not be more than 1/3 of the way into the reading. But you are more than 1/3 of the way into the calendar commitment. I bet if you rev it up for the next week or so, you WILL be caught up with the reading, as well. Make it a goal to be with us by Day 45 on August 18, our halfway point.  Pray about it. Ask Him to show you when to read. If you are really far back, then make it a goal to be half-way caught up by August 18, and completely caught up by September. You can do this, if you want to. He will help you. And I will do what I can to help you, too!!

To those of you are are caught up, I have this:

Congratulations on sticking to an incredibly worthy goal! Keep it up and it won’t be long before you will have read the entire Bible with us! I have no doubt sermons are already having more meaning for you. I am thrilled and excited for you… Keep it up!!

Today, as you check in and let us know where you are in the reading, let us know where you are reading. Consider telling us one place you have been reading your Bible that you might not have read it so much before this challenge. It’s always fun to see how everyone else is reading!

A few of my crazy places?

  • Sitting on the floor of a store waiting for my number to be called.
  • Waiting for my kids during their activities where someone always asks if what I’m reading is a good book. (Yeah… THE Good Book!)
  • Hiding in the bathroom.
  • On the road waiting for a traffic accident to be cleared. We were at a standstill for a very long time. I promise.
  • And snuggling with my kids while they read books of their own.

Link up, leave a comment and let us know how (and where) you are doing.

If you are linking a blog post, the post must mention where you are in the reading and be linked back to this post. It also must be a current post, published after the last check-in date.

The linky closes Tuesday morning at 2 a.m. CST.

Hope to see you tonight on Twitter from 8-9 CST to chat about the reading using the #B90Days hashtag.

  1. Still about a week behind, but still plugging along. I’m trying to bring my Bible everywhere with me, so I can read whenever possible!

  2. I’m almost caught up – all but Esther. I was planning to write a post this week (have a really cool, fun one all planned!) but WordPress or my webhost or something isn’t letting me to my site. So…. I probably won’t be linked up, but come visit me tomorrow!

  3. I’m just a day behind but will catch-up by the end of the week.

  4. I am about 2 days behind. I work from home so I usually take a few short breaks during the day and read at my desk. Also if we are traveling on the weekends I’ll read and make my husband drive :).

  5. I’m only 1 day behind and feeling great about this reading plan. I seem to get caught up only to fall behind by a day or two, then catch up again, etc… I am learning SO MUCH and it is amazing the applications I can make daily based on the readings. Today I spent some time reading whil sitting on the kids stepstool in the kitchen waiting for the potatoes to boil.

  6. I’m 6 days behind. However that is 6 days less than last week. I ‘m reading whenever & where ever I can . I switched back to a larger purse just so I could carry my Bible w/me. A chapter here & a chapter there really does make a difference.

  7. Hi Ladies, I am on track. My favorite time to read is early in the morning. When I woke up at 4 am today it was a great time to read Nehemiah and Esther. I was a little behind due to family visiting, church, and just too much busy-ness. So at 4, I had an hour and a half to read to myself in quiet! Awesome. I loved seeing the heart of Esther to obey the things that Mordecai taught her, even when she was the Queen! The Lord showed her heart of love and obedience even when it is really difficult, and to show the power of parents ( even adopted ones! ) in our children’s lives. Wow, how neat! Let’s keep going ladies! :)

  8. my check in for week 6 is up

  9. I’m so far behind…about a week. :( I *want* to catch up because I enjoyed the feeling of reading God’s Word everyday…just need to break free of this lazy spell!

  10. I’m on track with the reading. Mon the Fri I read on the park-and-ride bus on the way downtown to work and the way back home. I can get at least half of each days reading done then.

I am one day ahead and really loved reading Esther this week. Some books are definitely more challenging to make it through than others. I ended up listening while I read to Chronicles and it really helped. I read wherever, but really prefer to read while my littlest is napping, because I can focus and have an easier time reading. Tonight I read while my kids were playing in the bath, I like to read while I’m waiting in the car also. Not limiting myself to reading in the evenings in bed has helped me to get on track and fit more reading into my day. I’m trying to start exercising more, so I think I’ll try reading while I work out on the elliptical this week!

Staying on track…..yay! It’s so awesome to see how God took care of the Israelites even when they screwed up. Thanking Him for His mercies.

I am three days behind. A lot of “life” to deal with. Hope to get caught back up later this week. Last Tuesday night I was reding the beginning chapters of First Chronicles while my daughter bowled in her weekly league. My husband is only a day behind. It is so neat to do the challenge with him.

  15. I (hanging head) am really far behind, but I have not, and will not give up. Trying to play catch up and really like reading all the really neat tips for getting caught up. It really helps reading all the tweets on twitter. Each one gives me a sense of encouragment (and those of you that post you’re behind – don’t think its a bad thing… it keeps me from quitting because I’m behind..) Thanks again !

  16. I’m one day behind – for now. Will most likely catch up before bed… Thanks for all you do and how encouraging this group is!

  17. I’m on track. I’ll read anywhere, but I’ve developed a favorite place – a leather chair in my living room. It seems like it would be too loud & chaotic with 2 little boys around but God has allowed me to tune out alot of distractions and get most, if not all, of the reading done there each day. It’s my little version of a holy place in my home!

  18. Almost on track. When it becomes overwhelming to read I just sign into bible90days website and listen while I read. It has HELPED me so much!

    I one day ahead still!!!

  20. im on track and loving it!

  21. Oh, I’m so far behind, but I’m not giving up! We finished with a great VBS (read B90 while waiting on the kids to show up for storytelling); I think I’m actually 10 days behind at this point but before Saturday I was at least 16! So, I’m keeping on! And I’m enjoying it!

  22. I am caught up and now am a couple of days ahead. I cant seem to get enough of His Word. It really does open up some of the sermons at church as well. I am actually loving getting up early and reading before anyone else in the house wakes up. One of my strange places is reading at work, when I’m on a break or even when I’m just caught up and have a few moments. The problem with that is that I dont want to stop after just a few minutes. This has been such a blessing. I would never have been motivated to do this on my own.

I am slowly getting caught up and still motivated because of the subtle way that The Sword works in my life when I pick it up every day.

  24. Still on track even while on vacation! See my latest B90 blog post at http://taschek.wordpress.com/2010/08/07/bible-in-90-days-day-34-more-than-13-completed.

Some of the places I’ve been reading recently: on the plane, in the car, at the beach. I promise to join in next Monday’s tweet-up when we’ll be back from our travels! Thanks for praying for all of us, Amy!

  25. I have fallen behind again because of illness…but I did make it to Ezra today!

I’m still way behind; haven’t done a very good job of prioritizing my reading. This has been very hard for me because I’m such a perfectionist that when I started getting behind and feeling like I could not catch up I have been so tempted to just quit. But I don’t want to quit. I want to finish this, I know I’ll be much better for it.

I am in Jonah 24 so I guess I am still a day ahead. Jonah is a little challenging. Weeding through the truths and the lies can be tricky. I am depending on the Holy Spirit to make it interesting and to learn from it. Many times learning want NOT to do and say is just as helpful as learning what to do. I am looking forward to Psalms. That is one of my favorite parts of the bible.

  28. As of last Monday I was 4 days behind. My goal was to catch up on Friday and I did it! One tip I tried that worked SO well for me… I was overwhelmed thinking about how long I would have to sit there and read for.. So I just read for 5 minutes out of every hour and it FLEW by!

This is going to sound ridiculous but the ‘different’ place I have been reading is… Church. :) I work at a church and it has always been hard for me to separate my personal relationship with God and my job. But I have been starting my workday with reading, because you know what? The Bible IS part of both and all I need to do is be faithful toseek Him and He can work out my inner conflict. :)

I’m at 2 Chronicles 34:14. Still totally loving it even tho I’m a bit behind. I don’t have many crazy places to read tho I am guilty of hiding in the potty to sneak in a few pages;). I plan to be caught up by the weekend. In His Name,

I’m just about to start Job, so I’m a little behind – I haven’t done the reading for today. I’m hoping to get at least some of Job read tonight before bed but I really thought I was going to be a lot further behind. I spent the last 4 days at a big family reunion so didn’t have much time for reading but I squeezed in as much time as I could and surprised myself. The reunion was in a community almost 2 hours away so I read most of the way there and back and that really helped.

  32. Still hanging in there and on target!!!!!! I’m not getting a book read that I am supposed to be reading for school (I teach), but THE IMPORTANT BOOK is getting my attention right now. :) I have really been looking forward to checking in tonight. Wierd, huh? :)

I’ve been out of town for the weekend and am 2 days behind. Catching up tonight. Family stayed on track.

I really, REALLY wanted to post tonight and say that I’m caught up but I’m not. Almost, but not quite. I just finished Ezra so I guess that makes me 2 days behind. I’m hoping to catch up by tomorrow or Wednesday, it’s been challenging. However, I’m very excited to be more than 1/3 done and feel like I am learning a lot and continually gaining a clearer “big picture” of the Bible. Some of the places I read: couch, floor, my daughter’s bed (when she wants to sit and read her books), the car (when she falls asleep and I don’t want to move her), in bed at night. I’ve been doing the biggest chunk of my reading as I eat lunch while my toddler naps.

  35. On track and then some =) I will be heading into the Psalms tonight. Hopefully you got my email last week explaining my late check-in….I’ve been SO blessed by this venture that now I cannot get enough of the Word!!! I have 3 of my friends here also in your challenge and we keep accountability with eachother and cheer eachother on….NOTHING BUT BLESSINGS from this challenge!!!!!

  36. I fell behind this week but I am confident I will catch up! I’ll be on target for Day 45. That’s my goal! ;-)

  37. On track =) Gonna head into the Psalms tonight….I have gotten to a place where I just can’t stop reading the Word!! I have 3 very good friends of mine who are on this journey with me and we check in with eachother frequently also for accountability which is wonderful! I am going through a trial of the “takes away” of the LORD’s gives and takes away and this journey is definately helping me weather the storm and bringing blessings my way. I am not tech savy to blog…..but pray the rest of you are blessed with the blog =)

  38. Well I am one day behind. I will try to catch up tonight. I am a teacher so I have been home to read so far. Some reading in the car(while my husband drives:). However, we go back to school this week so I may have to get more creative! I am loving this and knowing I have to check in with the group has really helped me. My prayer life has become so much richer as well!

  39. Just a little behind but still reading every day! This is the best reading plan I’ve ever been on – love the pace! And can’t wait to go back and read up on some things I have questions about!

  40. Ugh…I’m behind. Just started Ezra tonight. Hopefully will have time to read more tonight and work my way back to being caught up in a few days. Even though I didn’t get any of my reading done this weekend, it was worth it…6 children under 5 + 4 adults = a great weekend of fellowship…but not much time for sleep or reading! ;-)

No unique places to read for me…just at home when my little ones are sleeping/resting.

Well, I am not caught up, but I am closer to current this week than I was last week. And, even before I read your challenge to be completely caught up by this time next week, that was my goal. Considering that, on top of the migraine and back problems from a couple of weeks ago, I woke up last Thursday with a cold, I’m pretty pleased with my progress. I’ve spent a lot of time resting and trying to recover from these various attacks, so a lot of my reading has been done in bed, with a warm puppy in my lap or curled up next to me. The next most common place has been in my car, typically on my lunch hour. I know I’m still behind (although less behind than I was this time last week), but I’m so excited about this process. I feel like I am learning so much. It really is powerful to read it through so quickly and get a much stronger feel for the flow of things. It’s also made me notice how like 80% of the Bible is in the Old Testament, and only about 20% is NT. Yes, I believe in the New Covenant, and that Jesus fulfilled the law of the old covenant, but still, I think there is much to be learned from the OT. There has to be, or it wouldn’t be there. It’s more than just a bunch of stories, with a few songs or poems thrown in. Since God is the same yesterday, today, and always, I am really appreciating God’s promises in the OT, how close He was, how intimate with Samuel, and David, and Abraham, and how much He really wanted a people who just loved Him and obeyed Him, so He could bless them. It makes me wonder if I would have been a Joshua, who just got up and marched around the city when God said to march, even if it didn’t necessarily make sense, or if I would have been one of the murmurers. I’d like to think I would have been a Joshua, but … it’s making me much more aware that when I feel that gentle nudge of the Spirit, I need to follow it, no matter how silly it may seem, whether I understand it or not.

I am on track. I was reading this morning in the ER. My husband had his tonsils out in Tues and we had a little scare this morning. He is ok, and I got caught up on my reading!

I am on track and will join you tonight!!!

  45. Hi, still on track, thanks for the check ups.
I read usually in bed or at the counter if I am feeling sleepy.

  46. I am all caught up–the most unique place I read was on the train to work…it was so crowded everyone was squashed together. I definitely got a few looks when I pull out my Bible and tried to make room to read.

  47. I’m on track, just haven’t updated my blog for DAYS. need to do that….just have to find more than 3 minutes!
    THanks, Amy!

I am reading now! About a day and a half behind. I have dreams of catching up by twitter time. Not sure though. I’m always a day or so behind. But in an odd way I think it gives me more of a drive to keep reading, so I guess it works as long as I don’t get further back than that! haha.

I’ve read on the train, at home, in a waiting room, in the car (as a passenger), on a plane, while waiting for planes, on a bus, in a hotel lobby, poolside. All pretty typical reading places I guess though. :)

  49. I am almost through day 32, so not as far behind as next week. If I can get the kids to bed soon, I’ll read more until my husband gets home. Slow and steady finishes the race:)

  50. I’m on track. I will be reading today’s reading after I put my little boy to bed tonight. I usually read in the evenings.
