B 90 Days Week 9/ Day 57 Check in

Wow! We are already at Day 57 of the Bible in 90 Days!

To be up to date, by the time you go to sleep tonight you should have read through Jeremiah 47:7 or page 684 in the Bible in 90 Days Bible.

We are definitely in the homestretch… of this adventure, anyway. And I am so glad you are taking it with me.

Unfortunately I cannot control my children’s school calendar and I have to miss tonight’s Twitter party. Fortunately, though, my sister in law, The Happy Housewife, will guide you tonight in my place. She is a Bible in 90 Days graduate, an incredible blogger, great Tweeter and an even better sister-in-law.

She will chat using the #B90Days hashtag. Her Twitter ID is @HappyHousewife, so go ahead and follow her and get ready for a lively chat tonight, whether you are caught up in the reading or not.

To help you get to know her a bit better before tonight, though, I am re-posting a piece she wrote explaining how she did her Bible in 90 Days reading during our last session.

I hope you enjoy her tips and her conversation tonight on Twitter.

Don’t forget to post a comment letting us know how you are doing with the reading or link to your own check in post at the end. Hope you have fun on Twitter tonight without me!

The Happy Housewife plan for Reading the Bible in 90 Days

In order to succeed at reading through the entire Bible in 90 days I knew I needed to come up with a plan. It is pretty basic, but it works!

First, get a Bible bag, basket, tote, container, just something that is portable. My bag contains my 90 Day Bible, a notebook, another book I am reading for Bible study, 2 highlighters and a pen. This bag goes with me up and down the stairs, to church, and to appointments. Whenever I have a spare moment I pick up the Bible and read a page or two. Not only does this help me keep up with the reading, when my children see me, I am reading the Bible!

Second, when I read I always have a highlighter in my hand. When I come across a passage I don’t understand, or I want to study further I highlight it. I also highlight my favorite verses or meaningful passages. When I finish the 90 Day challenge my plan is to go back through the Bible and study these passages. By highlighting I don’t get stuck in a certain portion of scripture and fall behind in my reading.

I have really enjoyed the Bible in 90 Days challenge. One thing that stands out to me is the big picture that is unfolding almost daily. When I read through Leviticus I can’t help but think,

“Thank you Lord for sending your son Jesus to die for our sins! I could never keep up with all those laws and sacrifices! Thank you for providing the perfect sacrifice!

I find that each day I look forward to picking up my Bible and reading those twelve pages. While many of these passages are not unfamiliar to me, many times I feel like I am reading them for the first time. I am excited to see God’s plan for all who are taking part in this challenge.

Thanks, Toni, for the tips on how you are reading through the Bible in 90 days with us!

So… How about you? How are you getting your reading done? And how far along are you? Let us know! And then have fun tonight on Twitter without me.

  1. I just realized that I never checked in last week! For shame!
I am behind again, a few days, bu twill catch up. Weekends are tough
in my house. I have been sick and we are getting our exchange student on Tuesday, so I will likely get behind again!

  2. Woops, totally forgot to check in! I’m still on schedule!

  3. I’m still here and I’m still behind. At one point last week I was only 3 days behind but now I’m back to being 7 days behind. I’m reading EVERY day though, so I’m happy with that.

  4. We are having Revival at church this week, praise God, it’s been awesome. But I will not be able to do much toward “catching up” just reading a day at a time.

  5. I am still caught up…can’t believe it, our air conditioning went out…my youngest is sick again, starting up new business, and 6 weeks pregnant= exhausted…BUT caught up!! YAY!! So thankful I’m in the Word at this time in my life:)

  6. I’m still a bit behind, but less so than last week, so I’m making progress!! :)

Staying on schedule, and really treasuring my time daily with the Lord. I am in Ezekiel and my heart was heavy as I read Jeremiah. I know it was not written for us, but it sure felt a bit like this time we are living in. I am challenged to examine my life for the idols that I put ahead of God.. despite His gentle prodding and nudgings. I stand in awe of our Lord who is so compassionate, and so extremely slow to anger, and despite his ability to He does not control my life, He loves me so much He gives me free will to do what I want – even when it is not good for me. He wants me to come to Him out of my own will, not by force. What a great reminder for me as a parent too. Earn the respect and love from the children..
    Blessings

  10. I’m two days behind right now, but I plan on reading Day 56 before I go to bed so I should only be 1 day behind.

well, we’re here inUtah…no household goods yet. They have until 13 Sept to deliver; pray it comes asap. I’m just starting Jeremiah…jet lag and bored kids in an empty house are lethal.

  15. Still behind, but still plugging along. It has been much more difficult to keep up with the readings now that I am back in school but I am trying very hard to spend some time in God’s word each day!

  16. I’ve fallen 4 days behind, but am resolved to keep with it. Isaiah was rough for me. I definitely need to revisit this book after this challenge is over. There were plenty of passages I recognized, but many more I was completely confused by.
Keep it up and finish strong!

  17. HI! Whew I’m still trying to catch up. I’m now only 6 days behind and I WILL be caught up by this time next week! Thanks for all your encouragement Amy!

For the first time i am a day behind. But life has been NUTS and I am glad to only be a day behind. Jeremiah is always enlightening. I studied it for 9 months in a bible study. I realized how much I had forgotten and how much I remembered.

By the way – the best time management tip I have is simle. Use the word no whenever possible.

First let say to Shannon that I am praying for you as you deal with your many challenges.

Now let me say thank you to those who have prayed for me this past week. I was more than 10 days behind when I checked in last week. I have been able to make progress even though I am still several days behind. But I have a renewed spirit to finished the challenge that is before me. Keep praying for each other, it helps.

My husband is 4 or 5 days behind. But he is still reading. It has been neat to have conversations with him about what we have read.

    Until next week.

  21. I REALLY like the idea of highlighting to come back and study later! Wish I’d been doing that from the beginning. I would need to buy a B90Days Bible though; I’ve been using my own.

So far, so good…actually ahead 1 chapter! Praise God. :)

  23. Still behind :( but plugging along. I feel a good week ahead so I think by next week I’ll be saying I’m caught up! Hope you all have a good week. We’re back to school next week so things will get crazy so I hope I can catch up and even get ahead.

  24. Ugh…behind. Not enjoying the prophets and life is getting in the way. However, I did make it to Jeremiah…and will keep pressing on.

  25. i am almost one day ahead.

  26. I’m up to date – I thought I was a day behind, but the YouVersion app worked in my favor this time! :-) Miss you at the chat tonight – but TOTALLY understand your own schedule demands.

  29. I am two days behind, but still plugging along. My baby had a bad virus at the end of last week, and I fell behind instead of catching up. I am still encouraged, and loving the challenge!

I’m all caught up! I was a few days behind last week but have been doubling up all week and just finished today’s reading. It feels good. I find Jeremiah confusing and Isaiah was a little rough but I’m excited to be almost done with the OT.

  32. I am one day behind and have been all this past week. I know I’ll get caught up at some point. I went from being ahead a couple of days to being behind 1 day. Oh well. I will press on and will catch up.

  33. Fell behind last week, but still pressing on.

  34. I am behind for the first time in the challenge this week :( I am behind by three whole days. Ugh. My Dad being in the hospital, one kid down with strep, and the beginning of the school year are making my schedule awfully crazy. Hoping for some catch up reading soon.

Purposing to finish up the reading tonight. My daughter has to meet with medical specialists tomorrow and I ask for all your prayers for God’s miraculous healing for her. Also, prayers for my son’s education and health as we embark on yet another school year starting once again with great difficulties due to his chronic health needs and the school’s refusal to address them. And, something I don’t always stop to do, but I would also like to ask for prayers for me as well believing that God will give me the grace, wisdom, strength, health, provision, and patience to once again walk through this “testing” educational journey with my son with God’s faithfulness, love, and favor on our side.

I sincerely appreciate each one of you for sharing this journey alongside me and for not just being fellow readers and accountability partners but more importantly for being new friends and powerful prayer warriors who are determined to come together as one to read all of God’s word regardless of life’s circumstances and obstacles that may try to steer us away from our reading and away from God’s true anointing and blessings upon our lives that is ultimately gained through our reading. We are all blessed to be a blessing and I am blessed to be here with all of you, including when facing these current temporary obstacles but I press on in faith believing God for His absolute best!!

    Abundant Blessings To All!!!

Still on yesterday’s reading. Will probably get about halfway through tonight’s before bed. Should catch up over the week.

  39. Will be finished with day 57 reading by the time I go to sleep tonight! I started highlighting when I got to psalms, wish I had started sooner.

  40. Ok, so I gave birth to our 5th baby very early Saturday morning.
‘Nuff said. I am moving along and my goal is to just keep moving forward and not lose the experience in discouragement. :)
