Bible in 90 Days Day 31 SOAP: Acknowledge and serve Him wholeheartedly

Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 24:1- 2 Chronicles 7:10

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 28:9

“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with a wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

Observation:

Follow the Lord and pursue a true, pure relationship with him. But do so honestly. He will know if you are seeking him for the right reasons or not.

Application:

I think this is excellent advice from a father to a son, and for anyone, really.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for this invitation to pursue you and a relationship with you. Guide me as I continue do that and keep my motives pure. Serving you has been such a thrill! Thank you, Lord for allowing me to do that. And please, Lord, help me to see what is standing in my way of wholehearted devotion and give me the courage to get rid of it so that I may serve you completely. I know that is where true joy is, yet I can sometimes get distracted by worldly, fleeting joy.

And Lord, for those struggling in pursuing a relationship with you, please, let them hear your whispers or shouts. Please guide them in pursuing you completely with wholehearted devotion, too. And guide them in acknowledging you. Let them also see your impact on their lives and cling to you.

    Thanks Amy! The same verse stood out to me today. That is what we are all called to do. Serve our God with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind. I so enjoy reading your ‘Soap’ devotions each day. I continue to pray for you and your ministry. Thank you for serving God wholeheartedly!!

    just want to share.
    I noticed 1Chr. 22:12 and thought maybe that’s why Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding. He heard it from his father. Solomon is wise enough to listen to his father, him seeing that God really blessed David.

    I realized we need to tell godly advise to children… words (aside from our action) we tell them now may be their principles later in life.

    When do we know it is enough? Or is it ever enough?

      I think it is ‘enough’ when it is complete devotion.

        Or rather, it will never be “enough” in this life because we are imperfect, but in Christ even our weak efforts are acceptable and even beautiful in God’s eyes. Remember this is a process to be more like Christ, and so let us not confuse this excellent advice for an either/or situation in regard to our salvation.
