Bible in 90 Days Day 32 SOAP: Don’t abandon the Lord!

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 7:11- 2 Chronicles 23:15

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 12:1

After Rehoboam’s position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the Lord.

Observation:

Once everything was going well and Rehoboam was established, he forgot what got him there and from where his true strength came. He forgot to honor the Lord.

Application:

This seems to be a recurring story in Kings and Chronicles (and, well, a massive chunk of the Bible). The people follow the Lord wholeheartedly. Things go well. They get caught up in how well things are going and forget how they got there in the first  place. They stop worshiping the Lord and trouble takes over.

It seems to me that it is important to always know where your strength comes from and where your direction should originate: in the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for guiding my path. And thank you for calling me back when I step away from that path.

I know where my strength comes from. I have seen what a difference my days are when I put you first, as opposed to when I launch in without you. Please guide me in doing a better job of seeking you and your will first. And please don’t ever let me forget your provision and grace in my life.

  1. Isn’t the bible so relevant for today? Amen!

  2. I am so thankful for everything that God has given me in my life! It is easy to get caught up in the good times and forget how you got there! I am working hard on keeping focused and remembering how my good fortune came my way! I am truly blessed!
