Bible in 90 Days: Day 8/ Week 2 Check In

Welcome Bible in 90 Days/ Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days participants! I am thrilled that you decided to join us in reading every word of the Bible between now and October 5.

If you are up to date, you should have read to page 96 in the Bible in 90 Days Bible or to Leviticus 14:32.

At the end of this post I will invite to share your progress with us. Please leave a comment letting us know where you are in the reading, whether you are caught up, racing to catch up or even feeling a bit frustrated. For more on check-in posts, please see this post. Bloggers, you are invited to share your progress with a comment or a link to your own blog post in the linky.

Now, on to a a message from Ted Cooper, who created the Bible in 90 Days program after reading the Bible in 90 Days himself and becoming a Christian as a result…

How exciting is this? Amy reports that over 500 of you are joining MomsToolBox.com in reading the entire Bible this summer. Imagine how each of you will be impacted… and how then you will be able to impact your family, friends and churches.

What you are doing is simple, in concept: reading God’s Word… all of it… from cover to cover… like we do a novel.

It is the bestselling book EVER. So it makes sense for us to read it. And, it seems very likely that the Author meant for us to experience ALL of it – not just bits and pieces of it.

So, congratulations for finding this online community, a group with which to share this foundational experience.

As you progress along this journey, please know that our ministry is here to support you throughout, both with FREE resources and others that are LOW COST.

You see, Bible in 90 Days is a ministry that is determined to help people read – attentively – every word of the Bible. And, so far we’ve helped churches, organizations, small groups and individuals in 49 states and 16 countries do just that.

Here are just some of the FREE ways we can help you:

* B90 Daily Message – A daily email is sent to you during the reading period to keeps you on track with: the reading schedule, words of encouragements, verses to ponder, community resources and more. Sign up: http://visitor.constantcontact.com/d.jsp?m=1102593140129&p=oi

Listen While You Read – Having the Scriptures read to you while you follow along in the Bible is a rich multi-sensory experience. For those of us who are slow readers — or tend to backtrack when reading — it also helps us maintain a steady pace. Sign up: http://www.biblein90days.org/listenwhileyouread/

IMPORTANT: You can hear Jack Modesett’s weekly lessons from the Listen While You Read section. You’ll be glad you listened.

* B90 Message Forums (Brand New)– Tell us what YOU think about your reading, as you HELP US inaugurate this new feature on our site. You might even want to become one of our volunteer moderators. Sign up: http://forums.biblein90days.org/ ·

Here are some LOW COST ways we can help:

The Bible in 90 Days Bible – There are many good Bibles out there; you may even have several on your bookshelf. But MOST of them are NOT well suited to reading from cover to cover in 90 days. Often, the print is too small… or the translation is wonderful in small doses (but not large)… or there are great sidebars and footnotes that detract from the reading. We strongly encourage you to use the B90 Bible on your journey. If cost is the issue, please apply for a scholarship from us. We are a tiny ministry, but we want you to have a great experience journeying through God’s Word.

The Bible in 90 Days Leader’s Kit – Our curriculum and resources have helped groups as small as TWO people to more than 1000 people read the entire Bible in community. The Leader’s Kit includes: The Leader’s Guide, weekly lessons on DVDs, The Participant’s GuideThe Essential Bible Companion, the Bible, and additional resources to help you market the course within your church or community. The curriculum is designed so that leaders need only FACILITATE. No knowledge of the Bible is necessary (though it is certainly welcome).

Finally, if there’s something that can help you on this journey that we aren’t yet supplying, please let us know. We want to help as many people as possible have this foundational Christian experience.

Okay, readers, let us know how you are doing! We want to pray for you! If you are participating in the linky, don’t forget to link back to this post in your own post so your readers can read more about the program.

And don’t forget to join us tonight on Twitter from 8-9 CST using the #B90Days hashtag.

The linky and comments will close at 2 a.m. Monday night/Tuesday morning.

  1. Checking in. Caught up on my reading. Missed the tweetup, but since I work full time my evenings don’t have much flexibility.

Sorry I am a little late with my check in! I did get one day behind, but have caught up! So I am right in track :)

  3. The reading has gone well and I am all caught up until today. I am off to read Leviticus before bed.

  4. I’m enjoying my last night of a wonderful vacation. I’m almost up to date – only a couple of chapters behind. I expect to catch up on the airplane tomorrow.

While traveling I’ve been doing most of my reading on my iPad. Blue Letter Bible has a great ap that autoscrolls the text. It really makes me focus on the reading. I get the plan from the YouVersion ap – if only it autoscrolled and life would be super easy.

I hope to be able to chat with ya’ll next week.

I am one day behind, but there was a passage that just made me think so much. In Exodus 13:17 “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them through the Philistine country, though it was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. Many times I want the short way to God’s best for me, but He knows that if it gets tough I may want to go back to what is comfortable. Often I know comfortable is not God’s best, but it doesn’t require much work either. Change is so hard and I think I can’t do it. I can’t without God leading me. And then there’s the whole Red Sea thing. The Lord went ahead of them, protected them and when they were pursued, He said He would get the glory. 14:13 says “Do not be afraid. Stand firm….the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Wow, what great advise. God showed His power by parting the Red Sea and protecting His people. It was nerve racking and really, really hard to trust God with the enemy chasing after you, but GOD KEPT HIS PROMISES AND WAS GIVEN GLORY! Now that’s a lesson I want to remember when I’m tempted to wimp out.

This week was a little tough to get through, but I made it! I am up to date with the reading and have started reading a bit of tomorrow’s reading as well. I am excited to continue reading.

  8. Since day 3 my husband and I have been getting steadily more and more behind. We had houseguests and then were houseguests, and spent too much time in the evening visiting to be able to stay awake to finish whatever reading we had not already done. I was tempted earlier tonight to just give up, but won’t do that. I stay home with our daughters, so it is easier for me to “find” time earlier in the day, but my husband already gets up at 5:30 for work and is in a busy time where he doesn’t have much of a lunch break. Please pray for him to “find” some time to catch up.

  12. My husband and I are both behind because of weekend visit with family and now vacation time with visiting friends in town. Hoping to catch up this week. Seeking your prayers…thanks!

  13. Finishing Exodus before bed, on track to be caught up by bed tomorrow.

  14. I’m a little behind because of my daughter’s birthday week and vacation mixed all together! I should be less busy this week which will give me time to catch up! :)

  15. I am on target as well & lovin’ that I started this challenge.

  16. I am completely on target – no issues with reading each day. I set aside a time in the evening after I tuck the children in bed for this reading time for me(I am reading B90 bible). My husband is reading something else (but a bible study per day – different version) and together we are both prompted to devote time to the bible instead of the television.

  17. I’m up to date on the reading.

  18. yay! I am on schedule. It was looking iffy for a while there the last couple days. I had to break it up into little chunks but I got through it. My 3 girls are reading theirs too! We love it! Praying for y’all! <3

  19. I didn’t get a chance to blog about it. I have family visiting but I’m on schedule.
