Bible in 90 Days: Final check in

Wow. So this is it. The 90 days are up. Many of you have read the entire Bible, cover to cover, with me over the past three months and now we are finished or close to being finished together.

We have encouraged each other via blog posts, emails, tweets, Facebook posts and weekly Tweet-Ups. We have grown as a community, grown as believers, grown as questioners, grown as sisters in Christ, praying for each other, thinking about each other and cheering each other on. And now we have done it… or we will very, very soon.

This has been an extraordinary experience for me.

When I initially asked a few bloggers to help me get the word out about Blogging Thru the Bible in 90 Days, I was scared. I didn’t know if anyone would show up and read with me or not. And then you heard about it and signed up… and then you did, too…and you… and then my tiny little blog of devotionals and mommy ideas became so much more. Because we listened to God and responded, together.

Many of you (who probably are not here anymore) I let slip through the cracks. I am so sorry I couldn’t follow up with everyone as well as I had hoped. I let you down. But I have been praying for you and think I’ll have a team in place to keep that from happening next time.

The rest of you who hung in there and read, some of you kicking and screaming, some of you soaking it all in, all of you giving up other things in your life to spend more time with the Lord, have amazed me and inspired me. Thank you for trusting me and joining me in this challenge. I cannot thank you enough for giving it a try.

Reading the Bible in 90 days changed me… and it changes me every single time I do it. I hope that you will feel changes, too.. today, tomorrow, in five years, whenever the time is right for God.

I’m having a real hard time writing this. I wanted to write a party post, but my eyes keep filling with tears. I love you. And I am amazed that God picked me to share this with you. And I am so honored and amazed.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening to God urging you on to read. Thank you to those of you who you wrote beautiful guest posts and linked beautiful posts from your own blogs. Thank you for your incredible comments and tweets and emails. Thank you to the original 11 who initially helped me to get the word out. (I refer to us as the 12 blogging tribes.)  And thank you, Lord for picking me, and for not giving up on me.

I am so proud of each of you for taking part. Those who do finish reading the Bible are in a minority of Christians… There aren’t too many of us who have actually read the entire Bible. But now, or very soon, you have read it all, cover to cover.

So here it is, the final check- in post of the Spring 2010 class of Blogging Thru the Bible in 90 Days. But I’ll leave it open until we hit 100 days. (And by then I’ll figure out a way to keep some sort of check in system going for those who are still reading.)

Please link up your post sharing your thoughts on the adventure. If you already linked it up on the Day 88 check in, feel free to link the same one here, too. I’d love to have a beautiful collection for anyone to read.

And it you don’t blog or don’t have a post to link, but you read with us, please leave a comment here. Let’s think of this post as our virtual yearbook where we can all go back and remember the love and encouragement we shared.

As you do finish, please be sure to send me an email directly. (You can use the button to the top right.) My husband and I have gifts we are working on for each of you and I’ll need to contact you when they are ready to get them to you. Plus, I’d also like to have your permission to list you as a grad on the sidebar, so, if that’s okay, let me know how you would like to be listed.

Thank you so much for joining me. It has been an honor and privilege to read and encourage each of you.

And I can’t wait to do it again beginning July 5…

(If you would like to help with the July 5 group by promoting the challenge, serving as a mentor or any other way, please send me an email. I can always use your help!)

Before we go, though… Let’s meet again on Twitter for our last Tweet-Up Monday from 8-9 CST. I’ll try harder not to cry then. :)

Yesterday I wrote about a few ideas to consider next to keep you in the Word.

Happy Easter, my friends. I hope it is one filled with new meaning for you. It will be for me.

I finished too! – and ended up one day ahead because I found Revelations so interesting. Sick boys and visiting relatives meant I couldn’t post earlier.

I loved doing it and am so glad to have finally finished the bible! I am definitely going to join the next group too.

    Thaknk you

  9. I finished in 88 days … right on schedule. And, I have encouraged my two best friends to do this as well. I think both will join the July group. :)

I cannot wait to go back through and make notes on all the words I circled, themes I followed, and verses I underlined.

Thank you, Amy, for encouraging us through this!!

  10. I finished on time with the group. Thank you so much for hosting this. It successfully broke my habit of reading the Bible strictly during my short morning devotional time and helped make reading the Bible more a way of life – something I now naturally turn to moments all throughout the day. Thank you everyone for the encouragement and accountability.

Well I didn’t check in much but wanted to let you know I did finish! I finished on April 1st and even though I went one day long I am still proud of myself! For awhile there I thought I had gotten too far behind but decided I’d just read when I could and still reach my goal of reading the whole bible. In the end though I caught up (I’m not sure how). I think God helped me! Anyway it was an amazing experience, actually unable to put it in words really. I think the goal of 90 days really helped me to finish. Thank You!

  17. Thank you so much for hosting this, Amy! I’m not sure I would have stuck with it without the support and accountability of having the blog check-in here. I’m very glad I did it. I read about the group starting up in July. I’m not sure I want to read through again, but I’d be glad to help with a group then.

  23. I finished! I had fallen behind with our long road trip, and missed a few days along the way, but I have done it! Thank you for the challenge – it was what I needed. I think I have mostly gotten into a habit of reading scripture every day, and hope to continue that. I may do it again with you in July. I haven’t decided yet. Since I just barely finished (just before midnight LOL), I haven’t done another post on my blog about it. I hope to do that tomorrow.

For those of you not finished – keep going!

Thank Jesus , the Lamb of God, for his precious gift of life. I began this challenge and did not want to tell anyone. Then I told my husband and one friend. I was afraid I would not follow through. Around day 16 I was at a quilt retreat with 12 ladies I didn’t know well because we have recently moved to this area. I disappeared for an hour the first night. Everyone was curious where I was…so I told them…about the challenge, the website, and the fact that I was afraid I would fail. They asked me to do devotions for breakfast the next morning. As I slipped away the next night everyone cheered me on! Well, here it is, THE END! I shared this challenge with many believers and non-believers thru the 90 days. Why? I shared because it was a joy. It was not a burden. I have a chair and a lamp and a Bible and a computer to listen while I read. I looked forward to this everyday. This was a gift. Some I shared with have also been “listening while they read” and it has been transforming for them as well. God gave me the ability and desire to do this. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. AMEN

  25. DONE!!!!! Shoutin’ some Hallelujahs!!!!!! It has been amazing. Add me to the grad list girl…

Wow!!! I can’t believe it I will finish tonight just a couple more pages but wanted to check in so when I am done I can hit the bed! I can not believe that I have finally read the entire Bible! Amy thank you so much! God definitely used you in my life through this experience. I never thought I needed to read the Bible I have been to church my whole life thought I had it all figured out! Who knew I had no clue! I am a good person (in general) but I am not a very good Christian! After reading the entire Bible (well shy of the last few pages) I now see that I have a lot to change before I stand before the throne of our Saviour someday…. I am going to work hard to change my ways the next few months and again Amy I can’t thank you enough for being our leader and our encourager without you I don’t think I would have made it! Thanks!! Love and prayers,
    Tiff

Yahoo! I just finished! I was several days behind and read all day today to finish in time. What a great feeling. I couldn’t have stayed motivated on my own. Thanks so much Amy for all your support that allowed us to come together and do this as a group. This process has given me a renewed passion for Him and His Word. It also helped me from a practical standpoint to piece things together. It’s amazing how much links together when you are reading the whole Bible in such a short time span. Thanks for listening and following God because I directly benefited from your obedience!

I did it! I can’t believe I read every. single.day! I’m so proud to have finished. It’s an accomplishment we can all be proud of! I am grateful for this experience and for all the support here. I’m excited to continue reading God’s word!

  31. I DID IT!!!! I can’t believe I really did! Thank you so so much for praying for me, and supporting me, especially just a week or so ago when I was 5 days behind and discouraged! I finished at 10pm on Day 90, and I am so delighted and proud! I never stuck to anything like this in my whole life, and what better than feeding on God’s Word to finally succeed at self-discipline?!

I linked my blog post but because it always ends up a broken link when I paste the whole URL in, I had to just put my basic blog URL in, not the actual post. I linked this comment to my actual post though. I couldn’t really write much about what the challenge has done for me, or what I’ve taken from it because I just can’t think! My brain feels fuzzy. I think I will write another blog post in a few days when I have had time to digest it all and think about it with some perspective. All I know is, it really has been life-changing for me, and there’s a new strength deep inside me. I think maybe I might like to start every New Year reading the entire Bible, and the remaining 9 months of the year in more indepth Bible studies. But I’m intrigued by a July run! Maybe I’ll be back for that one too?! You can’t read the Bible too many times, after all! :)

I’m so grateful to you for hosting, Amy! And for encouraging, and praying. I would never have read my Bible right through like this without it! Praise God! :)

  32. Well, I did not finish. I am only in Matthew. BUT I am determined to get it done. AND… I want to do it again in July to really finish it this time. I cannot tell you how much I have learned even though I haven’t finished in 90 days. God is awesome and I am really growing spiritually throughout this process. Thank you Amy for your encouragement and sweet, sweet spirit!

  33. I can finally say what derailed me at the end besides the time change, 2 sick girls, and the general craziness of motherhood – we are moving…we have 4 weeks to be DONE. Just confirmed on Monday, but knew about a week ago it was likely…..

Hoping to finish up this weekend!

  36. We’re getting closer to being finished. I’ve got so many thoughts whirling through my head. Once we’ve completed the challenge, I’m hoping for a chance to put my thoughts together for a blog post. This has been incredible. Just today was incredible!

And even though my 10 yr old was “tired” of me reading for so long, as soon as I said, “Okay, I’m done for now.” he opened up his Bible and read (aloud) the 2nd Chapter of Revelation.

Hi Everyone! I’m still on schedule although I’m only on Day 67. I started a few weeks after everyone because I just HAD to have the Bible in 90 days bible! So after waiting for it to ship and get to me I have started and haven’t looked back! The book of Daniel was so interesting to me – I can’t wait to get to the New Testament – almost there! I’ve been a Christian almost my whole life and had never read the Bible cover to cover – what an experience! I have so enjoyed it!

Amy – will you leave this open so those of us that started after you can be official finishers also?

    Thanks!

  39. Yipee! I finished! I was about 10 days behind only a couple of weeks ago, but through reading 2 to 3 days at a time, I finished at 1:30 am this morning! I thought I’d finish at 11:59 pm tonight! But I meet my goal a little earlier than I thought I would! Well, only 22 1/2 hours earlier! When I completed reading I just felt compelled to tell God “Thank you for your Word.” This was not an easy challenge. But to read the entire Bible in 90 days really gave me a more powerful view of God and his Word. Thank you, Amy, for your encouraging words and for putting this challenge out there for all of us. When I first read about the 90 day challenge I didn’t want to do it. But God tugged at my heart, so I took on the challenge. And I did it!

Well, I never checked in that I was a reader because I did not find out about the 90 day bible challenge until New Year’s Eve. My family was in bed and the ball was about to drop and I guess I was looking for a New Year’s resolution without really knowing it. So that night I ordered my book and did not start reading until Jan. 1o. So I should finish up in the next 3 days (which will be around 85 days). My goal was Easter. I have read through a nasty virus with a high fever and also a weekend vacation. I have a 3 year old and a 14 month old. My huband has been traveling 3 weeks in March. So if I can do this anyone can. Midnight reads are so peaceful! I have been so blown away about this experience and have a goal and sticking to it. Well, my story ends with being baptized on Easter Sunday. I can’t stop crying. I am finally not going to be afraid!!

A little sidebar: I also lost 17 lbs.
