Blogging Through the Gospels: Wanting to believe and not just see

The reading for Friday is John Chapter 6.

Scripture:

John 5: 35-36, 40

35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36But as I told you, you have seen me and still do not believe.

40For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Observation:

So many of you know me or experience me, yet you don’t really believe. You see me, yet you cannot really believe. Once you do believe, you really will have all you need.

Application:

For a  long time, I kind of knew Jesus and I kind of believed. I even prayed. I had a devotional time here and there. And yet I couldn’t fully commit.

I wanted to fall in love with him, but something held me back.

Then I read the entire Bible and my life was changed. All those questions that I thought I needed answered no longer mattered. Whatever it was that was holding me back vanished. I really began to see Him. I really began to know Him.. and I really wanted to know Him even more.

I want to help those that were just like me, waiting, wondering and frustrated, wanting to believe and not just see.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for continuing to whisper in my ear and in my heart all those years that I questioned and clung to the edge of your cloak, wanting to embrace you, but was afraid and questioning.

Thank you for bringing the Bible in 90 Days program to me, so that I would read your entire Word and experience you more than I ever could have expected to experience you.

Please use me, Lord, to help those who are like I used to be, hanging on the the edge, accepting some but not all, wanting to let go and jump into your arms but afraid. Bring them to me and the Bible in 90 Days program and let me show you to them as Ted Cooper showed you to me.

Thank you for not giving up on me. And thank you so much for using me now… it has been so much fun to be on your team. And I cannot even imagine what eternity with you will like. I’m thrilled to know I’ll be there with you. No more questions.

What about you? What did you hear?

  1. From John 6 I learned that God can do great things with our little gifts, talents, and abilities!

  2. This was…and still is, in some ways…me. I grow in my faith and experience God’s love a little more each day but in some ways, I’m still on that edge, still a little afraid to jump. That’s why I joined the B90 Challenge…reading the Bible in 90 days is that one last push I need to fully jump into God’s open arms and embrace Him completely! I am feeling so blessed to have found a community of believers that have helped me to grow with God.

  3. I am right there, and I was reminded of your blog the other day and I am amazed I signed up for the bible in 90 days because I need to feel more of a connection with my Lord, and right now I dont and I believe the Lord has led me to you again for the reconnection that I am missing with him, anything you have for tips, prayers etc Thank you.

This one was… real. Right where I am, exactly what I need, even though it hurts.
