Blogging Through the Gospels: Luke 19

Guest SOAP Post by Kristina.

The reading for Monday is Luke Chapter 19 .

Kristina is a Bible in 90 Days graduate and chose to share her observations on the whole chapter rather than narrow it down to one verse.

Scripture:  Luke 19

Observations:

This chapter is packed! I felt overwhelmed with just the amount of information, but the one thing I kept hearing was how I am not wisely using the gifts God has given me.  In the parable, the businessman gave each of his workers the minas to care for/invest/etc. while he was gone.  He didn’t leave any out and in the same way He didn’t leave any of us out when he was designing us and giving us our talents.  Sure, he may have given someone else more talents and I can promise you he gave out different talents {Michelle has a poignant post about this very thing here and why rewrite it when she did so beautifully in the first place?}.  He did NOT forget me when he handed out talents.  Lately I’ve been discontent.  I know where my talents lie and yet I refuse to use them.  Instead I am trying to shove my square shaped self into a round sized hole.  It’s not working out. Then this group of verses spoke to me–I need to stop fighting my “square-ness.”  Instead I need to embrace the talents He gave me and then start using them.

Application:

I need to identify my talents —->

Then find some way to utilize those in my daily life.

I enjoy sewing. I can’t always throw my kids in front of the tv in order to sew all day long, however I can get my daughter involved in designing her own bag along side the goodies I am sewing.  I enjoy writing, so I’ve tried to start writing stories with my kids.  It is amazing the amount of perspective a five year old can shed on a subject.

The biggest thing I can say is USE what God gave you….USE it.  It is there for a purpose.

Prayer:

Dear God,  thank you for the unique talents you have given each of us.  Please help us identify what our talents are and secondly show us how we can use them in this season of our lives.  Mostly, let whatever we do glorify you.  In Jesus’ name…Amen.

Four little kids, ages five and under call Kristina “mommy.”  She lives with her husband and kids in a small town close to where she grew up.  When she’s not changing diapers or folding laundry you can find her blogging at 3under4 and trying to remind moms that they are not alone.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading of Luke 19?

Jesus invited Himself over–He did not wait for an invitation to come first!
