Blogging Through the Gospels: Luke 4

The reading for Friday is Luke 4 .

Here is what I heard:
Scripture: Luke 4:43

But he said “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also because that is why I was sent.”

Observation:
Jesus knew why He had come to the earth and what He was sent to do.

He was focused and not distracted.

Application:

I allow myself to get so distracted.

How can I stop that?

I realize I am not Jesus, or anywhere near Him, but I still want to be more focused on what He intends for me to do.

Prayer:

I want to do so much– but is that because I am still searching for why I was sent?

Forgive me, Lord, when I wander and seek approval in places I should not.

Help me to focus better on you and hear your direction and guidance.

I want to know why I was sent. I want to do what you designed me to do. Help me to find that, focus on that and stop allowing myself to be distracted.

This is such a common refrain for me. Help me to reach your answer and pursue that.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading of Luke 4?

Jesus touched people. He took the time, and physically touched them when He healed them. He didn’t have to do this–could have healed them so much faster and easier and germ-free if He would have just spoken. But so often, He reached down and touched them. How are we touching people in our lives today?

  2. Think–what could Go accomplish through us if we totally surrendered to Him??
