Blogging Through the Gospels: Luke 7

The reading for Monday is Luke Chapter 7.

Here is what I heard:

Scripture: Luke 7:7

That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come for you.  But say the word and my servant will be healed.

Observation:

The Centurion’s servant was very ill and he sent other servants to ask Jesus to come and heal him.

Then he sent friends to tell Jesus not to come because he knew he could still heal even without coming, so he did not want to trouble him.

Application:

The Centurion had such faith, and genuine desire for healing without the need to see Jesus. His desire and actions were all about the healing and the faith, with total faith in Jesus’ word and abilities.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, every time I read this passage I am amazed at the Centurion’s faith. I have been taught about the Holy Spirit and know that you do not need to be in my sight physically for you to heal. This man, however, just had complete faith in Jesus’ healing long before the rest of us could even imagine it.

Thank you, Lord, for this example to follow and this reminder of how strong and faithful you are.

Thank you for loving us, healing us, and sharing good examples with us in your Word so that we can more completely understand, be inspired and follow you.

What about you? What did you see and hear in your reading today?

Are we loving Jesus “much,” or are we judging others “much?”
