Cellar No. 8 Wines

Last week I had the opportunity to meet with Paul Rydquist, the winemaker for Cellar No. 8 wines.

Not only did Paul share stories about winemaking, and let me taste his wines, but he also told me a bit about the history of the Asti Winery, which produces Cellar No. 8 wines.

Cellar No. 8 offers Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and a brand new red blend of eight reds (Petite Sirah, Grenache, Merlot, Mourvedre, Syrah, Zinfandel, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) they call Ei8ht.

Each of these wines sells for around $10 (often less!), yet each tastes like they cost much more.

My favorites were the last four: the Cabernet, Merlot, Zinfandel and Eight, yet I found all of them to be quite good and much more complex than one might expect for $10.

I’ll be sharing more about the wines soon and pairing them with some simple, yet elegant meals, as well as sharing my interview with Paul on video, so stay tuned!
