Do supernatural things things faze you? Daily SOAP Devotion: Acts 8 #SOAPDevo

bible-study-post

Good Morning!

The verse that grabbed me today was one about something supernatural.

Here’s our Daily SOAP Devotion reading for today:

Acts 8Here’s what stood out to me, especially, using the SOAP Devotional Method:

Scripture: Acts 8:39

When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunich did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Observation:

The eunich was baptized and then Peter was gone, taken to another place to do more work and the enich justcontinued in his joy in new discovery and baptism.

Application:

This just cracks me up in a way.

Peter goes over, changes a man’s life by showing him the truth and then baptizing him, and then, just after he is baptized, Peter disappears. Either miraculous wonders happened so frequently or this eunich was so overcome by the spirit (or both) that this didn’t even faze him at all. How wild is that?

I’m really not sure what to ask for or take from this. I’m amazed at the eunich’s complete joy and faith in baptism that he wasn’t concerned about Philip at all.

Can you imagine being so blown away that supernatural things from God wouldn’t even faze you? That’s pretty incredible.

Prayer:

Lord, I know there was a lot to read and learn in Acts 8, but this just grabbed me and made we wonder. How is it that a man could disappear and the eunich didn’t even stop in his rejoicing? That is some amazing rejoicing!! I’d love to be that kind of rejoicer. :) Thanks for these stories… and for your miracles works.  And please forgive me when I am caught up in the details too much to just rejoice in your blessings.

Lord, on, another note… so many of us are lifting Jake and his family up to you in prayer. Please, Lord, stretch out your hand and show us another miracle. Please heal him to Your glory. Please.

What about you?
