Daily SOAP Devotion: Acts 7 #SOAPDevo

bible-study-post

Good Morning!

Today marks a week since we began this reading plan together, I hope you are enjoying it and are hearing God speak to you. I’ve certainly enjoyed starting my days with SOAP and sharing with you.

Here’s our Daily SOAP Devotion reading for today:

Acts 7
Using the SOAP Devotional Method with today’s reading was a challenge for me today.

I liked getting such a great recap from the Old Testament, but the storytelling made it especially challenging to use SOAP.  I had to just jump in and start writing before finding my S for the day. Finally, this one verse stood out and got me:

Scripture: Acts 7:51

You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

Observation:

Why are you so stubborn! Why do you deny the Holy Spirit?

Application:

God has a lot of guidance for us. All we have to do is open our hearts, eyes and minds and talk with Him to hear it. (Yesterday’s SOAP on delegating was a prime example for me!!) Yes, trailblazing can be a fantastic thing. But listening to God  (and not going at it completely alone) can make us even better trial blazers. I need to slooooow down, seek his guidance and follow. it.

Prayer:

Father, thank you for being there and for constantly reminding me you are here, just waiting on me to call on you for guidance and help. Following you and living the path you have set for me really is the best thing. I see that so often… and every time I do, I am amazed. And yet, I get so caught up in to-dos and moving forward that I often forget to slooow down, stop and talk with you about my plans and then listen and follow. I have no doubt you brought me into VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me, just as you took me to guide Bible in 90 Days readers and also guide my children. You know my next steps. You know just what I should and should not do. It is undeniable that you have brought so many opportunities to me.

Please, Lord, help me to take the time to stop, listen, talk and listen some more. Guide me in listening and following. You are in this with me. You know what is best. You have the power to open the right doors, as you have many times.

Thank you for your forgiveness when I push ahead (in work  and home matters) and don’t stop and listen. Please guide me from being stubborn and self-driven and instead slooow down and be guided by you.

What about you?

I’d love to know how today’s reading impacted you. Was it  challenge for you to find one verse? Did this same one speak to you? I’d love for you to share in the comments of this post.
