Day 1/ Week 1- Bible in 6 Months: Let’s get ready to….. REEEEEEEEAD!!

WOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO, Y’all! It’s just about time to open up those Bibles and begin our 6-month journey in reading the entire Bible from cover to cover together.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1 is Day ONE of our reading schedule.

Before we get to the reading plan, I want to share a few thoughts with you. If you are one of those still thinking about reading but holding back because this is too busy a season for you, please oh please, keep reading this post. If you aren’t well… please keep reading anyhow.

I am SOOOOOOO ready to jump back into reading the entire Bible and excited to read it with you. I am excited about the 6-month time frame. I am excited about journaling a bit as I read this time. (Not required. Just reading is the goal.) I’m excited to be back here on MomsToolbox. There are so many good things!

Is the timing perfect?? Ummmmm. No. But perhaps that means that it IS IN FACT the right time.

I am SUPER overwhelmed with the things of life right now. Just today I looked again at my task lists and wondered how in the world all would get done and how I would even get this task done, just writing this post and designing the reading bookmark for the week.

And I ticked one thing off, opened Canva, designed the bookmark and then started typing here because I LOVE this. I love reading the Bible on a schedule. And I love doing it with you.

So often I think about automating the plan by using posts from a previous read-through and setting up a drip email. But I just can’t. I LOVE reading with you. I love hearing your thoughts. I love finding my own thoughts. I love hearing the Holy Spirit’s whispers and proddings and finding new understandings each and every time.

And even if my life is crazy busy, I know the rewards will come. And I know He will speak to me and I will grow as a result of this time.

And so here we are, about to embark on an exciting journey. I am honored and excited that you are taking it with me. And we CAN do this!

The journey will have twists and turns. Unexpected things will happen. New discoveries will be made. Things that you may have understood one way will become more clear perhaps in a different way… and some will become more fuzzy. New priorities and understandings will emerge. And that could just be what you are experiencing in your life as you read.

Wait until you dig into the content… Things sure start right off with a bang this week in Genesis. If you haven’t read Genesis before this, you are in for a page-turner and some serious drama. Some of it may be hard to read. Every word is there for our understanding and every word is part of the beautiful love story of our Father’s love for us. Hang in there in the rough spots (both when your schedule gets rough and when the content gets rough.) It WILL all be worth it in the end.

Are you ready to get started? I sure am!

Here is all that you need to do:

  • Read the assigned passages each day.
  • Comment on the weekly post so I know how you are doing.

And here are a few suggestions:

  • Pray before you read each day to help settle your mind and gain focus.
  • Feel free to read all at once or break up the reading throughout the day.
  • Don’t worry about understanding or retaining all that you read. Just read and take it in as you can. (You will retain more than you think and, ultimately, more will make sense as you read deeper. There will still be plenty of mysteries to delve into after the full Bible has been read.)
  • Comment on a few other readers’ comments in the weekly post (like this one) to let them know you are here, too.
  • Invite a friend to join you as an accountability partner.

Week 1 Reading Schedule

Here is what we are reading this week:

And here it is in downloadable form:

For those looking for a bit of context, here is something created by Ted Cooper, who created the Bible in 90 Days reading plan, to give a bit of an historical overview and explain a few things you will come across in the reading:

Who is still with me?

Still up for the challenge? Still ready to read the entire Bible, cover to cover, with me in these next 6 months? I sure hope (and pray) that every single one of you reading this will join me.

Please drop a note in the comments to let us know you are here… and then LET’S DO THIS!

Big hugs,
