Do you log your Christmas cards received?

Lately I’ve received a few emails from a yahoo group I participate in about Christmas card logs.

I’ll admit I’m not the best Christmas greeting sender. I still haven’t even designed our card from Christmas 2008… and this won’t be the first year I send Valentines instead of Christmas cards.

I keep a rough list if whom I send cards to, but I never keep track of who sends cards to us.

Do people really keep track of who they receive cards from? And if so, why?

Am I in danger of getting crossed off someone’s list because I am a slacker? If so, shouldn’t Christmas greetings be sent to those whom you want to greet instead of those who meet a certain mailing criteria?

Any thoughts? Am I misinterpreting the whole thing? Help! (And I’m sorry I haven’t done the card thing yet.. really!!)

I check the addresses of the cards received this with my last years list, make corrections (on computer), keep the cards, but I am not sure why. And every year it seems I receive cards that were not on my list therefore didn’t get a card or I forget someone. Can you believe this year I forgot my Mother-in-law AND sister-in-law… not a good thing. I also use my Christmas card list for birth announcements, wedding announcements, and graduation announcements. I usually get cards from people I attended elementary school with years ago… it is a little way of staying in touch and I look forward to seeing their kids and grandkids in their holiday photos.

  2. I have up until this year because I lost the file on a crashed hard drive. I like to know that I didn’t miss anyone. If I get a card from someone, I usually send one next year.

Your idea makes sense… guess since I’m always late I just add them in but don’t have to keep track! –Mom
