Do you use SOAP?

I’m a big fan of the SOAP method of listening and recording what I hear during daily Bible reading, whether that reading be as lengthy as what I might read when following the Bible in 90 Days plan or as short as a Bible in one year plan.

If you aren’t familiar with the

  • Scripture
  • Observation
  • Application
  • Prayer

method, I highly recommend you click over to my What is SOAP? page to see what it is all about and how it can help you, too.

Sometimes I even use SOAP alongside other study and prayer plans, as I did when reading the Power of a Praying Wife.

If you post your SOAP observations regularly, please consider joining our ring.

Grab the button and feel free to use it on your sidebar and with your SOAP posts.

Then leave a link to your blog’s homepage here so other SOAP’ers can visit you and see what you have been hearing lately.

Let’s really work on cleaning up together!

  8. Hi! I read the Bible in 90 days (134 for me!) this spring and plan on trying to do it in 90 this time while blogging through the Bible on my blog at roadtoranching.com

    Thanks for the support!

  9. I joined the SOAP Ring! I’m still struggling to always fill in the O and A, but I’ll get there.

    1. I’m glad you have joined us!
Sometimes it IS tough to get the O and A, but you’ll get better at it. :)

    2. Hi! I saw your comment and wanted to share s quick idea for encouragement with the O and A ๐Ÿ˜. My church taught to find one very practical observation in the text that interests you. It will be in plain sight ๐Ÿ˜‰. Then for the A you can personalize that O you uncovered. God bless your soap, sister!!

  10. This is my first SOAP. Such a great idea! Thanks!

Today has been a bad day. It started out with my expresso coffee maker finally completely quitting after I had my heart sat on a caramel macchiato. I had my cup ready and the caramel sundae syrup out. It started steaming my milk and it stopped. I thought, surely its not out of water so, I carefully opened the lid. I added water and started again. No steam! :( It made a trip to the trash can. Then I have been on a mission to declutter my house. I was cleaning and moved some glass from our old front door outside to be hauled off by my son. The last piece a bumped and it shattered everywhere. I hadn’t made it out the house yet so, glass was everywhere. It was on the tile, on the carpet, stuck in the new door, EVERYWHERE! I had a Wal-Mart sack completely filled with the glass. The broken glass was my breaking point especially while I was cleaning it up and my oldest daughter hops out of bed and leaves. It’s so frustrating when they sleep to noon and get up and do what they want to without thinking about helping out around the house. I have found it very wrong for my children to sit on the couch or sleep till noon everyday when mom is running around the house cleaning and I DIDN’T make the messes!!! My children are 21, 19, and 14. I just was so frustrated and took a break. I was searching about reading the Bible in 90 days. Yes, thinking I’ve been having a bad attitude and need to spend more time with God. My life has been in turmoil because I’ve put Him on the back shelf :) While searching I found Mom’s tool box. I signed up to read the Bible in 90 days. I’m very excited about it. I am going to finish cleaning house today. My goal is to finish it all by Friday. I’m going to start making my family accountable for cleaning up messes they make, and to be more responsible. I might even make them a chore chart. HaHa! :)
I really needed to find this website today. It was just a reminder that God knows everything I’m going through and is here. I just have to listen and be available to Him.

    Angie :)

    1. Oh my goodness, what a day!
Just hang in there and take it step by step and bit by bit you’ll eventually see progress. That’s how we read the whole Bible, bit by bit without stopping.

I’m glad you came by and hope things have been getting better. :)

  12. I am so glad to find SOAP! As a busy mom always trying desperately to “get it together”, it is hard sometimes as well as frustrating to try and get quality time in with the Word and with God. This format is easy to follow, and even if I only have a few minutes, I can still constructively study the Word and hear the voice of Abba speaking to me about my day. It’s also a great way to organize a blog post…thanks!!!

    1. I’m glad you like SOAP– it has really helped me a LOT! :)

  13. I tried adding your SOAP ring button to my blog post and can’t for the life of me figure out how to do it :( I’m using Blogger.com…can you help me?

    1. I’m sorry but I don’t know much about the Blogger platform, so I’m not a big help. Maybe Google your question?

  14. I’ve decided to Soap my way through Psalms now since B90 is over…I want to really soak in the encouragement I can find!!! Love the soap concept!!

I tweeted a pic about it (I’ll @ you so you can see it!!!

  15. This will be my first time using the SOAP method and my first time to blog through the Gospels. I am delighted I found this website; what a wonderful resource and community to stumble upon. Please come say hi on my blog, I would love to meet you…

  16. I use the SOAP method in my devotions and journaling all the time! When I share studies, etc. on my blog, I leave out the “P” because I like to keep that part just between me and God… I’m getting ready to start a Kay Arthur Bible study about God’s covenants and promises. I am looking forward to sharing what God teaches me through it! :)

  17. I love using the SOAP method. It has helped me so much in my spiritual growth! I share one of my daily SOAPs once a week on my blog.

  18. Forgot to add the Twitter!

  19. I’m starting B90Days with our women’s Bible study at church and we’ll be using the SOAP idea. I just posted my first one on my blog (http://www.homeschoolreviewsandmore.com/2011/01/one-who-sees-soap.html) and hope to continue throughout the study, at least weekly if not more.
