Don’t let me slip away

Scripture: Hosea 13:6

“When I fed them, they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.”

Observation: How often do I do that? I cry out to Jesus. I get back on track with my devotional time. Then things go well, something pushes aside my devotional or study time and I let it slide once, and then again and then I’m on my own. Or I get excited about something and take control-forgetting who really is in control.

Application: I must not attempt to not rely on the Lord. I cannot lose this focus. Like right now I am here, but I’m losing my focus. I am so concerned about what to journal and blog about that I am not just listening. I am trying to control the situation and come up with today’s focus. But He will give it to me. Relax. I don’t need to worry about it.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for falling away so often when the going gets good. Thank you for this reminder to remain vigilant in my reliance on you. And thank you, Lord, for your sovereignty… that you are in control and I am not. Because we could all certainly get in trouble if I was in control! I might have a few good ideas, but you have them all. Keep me faithful to you… in my reading, in my journaling, in my blogging, in my living… in all my actions, Lord, keep me faithful to you and don’t let me slip away.
