He can use anyone

Scripture: Acts 9:17-18

17The Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord- Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here- has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,

Observation: Saul was a very well known persecutor of those who followed Jesus. Just before the passage above, Jesus approached him as a light flashing from heaven and a voice, striking him blind and instructing him to follow Jesus’ instruction. Three days later, after the intense faith of Ananias to approach him, he was able to see again. And his life was changed. And many, many lives were changed through him.

Application: Saul made it his life’s work to persecute Christians. And yet Jesus came upon him and caused him to change his ways. One who had been his so opposed to Jesus became one of his most influential disciples. Jesus can use anyone. And Jesus can lift scales from anyone’s heart so that that he or she may see the truth.

No, I don’t have a big transformation story of a terrible past and completely different life now. But I did not live my life for Jesus before and now I’m trying to. And he can and will mold me if I ask him to do so. And, although my transformation might be in tiny steps, I can certainly see a change when I look over the big picture.

He can and will use anyone who lets him in. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see a major Saul-like transformation in your life. If you’ve invited him in, and you are listening, He is working in your life, too.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for this reminder that you can and will use anyone you choose to share your message. Help me to be patient with those around me who act against you, and remind me to pray for them. Thank you, also, for using me as you are. It has been very exciting to see this change in me that you are orchestrating. Please guide those who want to see change in their own lives as they seek you. And, please, keep me in your Word so that I continue to grow and encourage those whom you place in my midst.

  1. Great post Amy! I really enjoy reading your blog. Hope to see you Thursday.

  2. Hi Amy, sometimes we are not even aware of the effects we have on others. Somehow, (perhaps the Holy Spirit guided me) I found your website and immediately loved the SOAP method of Biblestudy. I quickly started to apply it to my own Bible study and began to post it on my new blog.

Just yesterday I had a comment from someone asking me (ME!) questions on how to begin a structured bible study. It is because of your SOAP blogs that ultimately, will lead her to a deeper and more meaningful walk with the Lord.

Keep it up, you are touching lives without even realizing it. The Lord reaches others through what we do with our lives! How amazing is that!

Your comment is so encouraging to me. I had to smile at your response to someone asking you how to begin a structured study. I feel the same way. It amazes me that God is using me (ME?!) to share His word. I hope you find it as exciting as I do. Thanks for reading… and more importantly, for sharing His word.
    –Amy
