He does make it clear

Scripture:  John 5:36

…For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that he Father has sent me.

Observation: Jesus’ actions and life on earth clearly show that he was sent by God alone

Application: By reading scripture and weighing it against Jesus’ actions, it is clear that Jesus is/ was the fulfillment of many prophecies. He is the Son of God, sent by the Father.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for not only sending your Son to die for me, but also making it so clear as to who He truly is. By studying your word I could see without any doubt that He is the answer and fulfillment to the prophecy of the Old Testament. Thank you, Lord, for rewarding the study of those who seek you with clear evidence. Please guide me in the continuation of my study so that I may grow in the knowledge you have set out for me to gain, pushing away wordly views and replacing them with your instruction.

As much as I thought the Bible was so confusing for many, many years, it amazes me how clear it really is once you give it a chance and actually read it.

In  committing to really read scripture, I  am able to hear and see things that were elusive before.  And, although I’ve read the whole thing a few times, I make new discoveries  through my reading almost every single time I open the Book .

I believe this is because the Bible is the living, breathing Word of God. He reveals to you what He wants to share  with you at the perfect time for you. But if you aren’t reading, how else will you hear it and be able to discern that it is the true voice of God?

If you haven’t committed to reading the Bible and you have questions, give it a shot. Perhaps start in the New Testament and read the gospels, and then continue through the New Testament from there and then go back for the Old. Or commit to jump into a Bible in a Year Plan. Or, my favorite, find a Bible in 90 Days group and get ready for the ride of your life!

Whatever you choose, choose a reading plan so you can read, listen and hear God speaking directly to you. You’ll be amazed at all the mysteries you’ll unlock and how much you will see God moving in your life where you didn’t see Him before.

  1. This is so true! I try to impress this very thing upon the teenage girls at our church. They want to know what God thinks about things, but they don’t want to invest the time to read His word. How can you know His heart if you don’t listen to what He has to say?

I’ve started taking classes recently and finished up Genesis last quarter. I was floored by how there are so many signs of the Gospel in Genesis. It was like more pieces of the puzzle were uncovered, but it’s so simple I almost felt ignorant for not seeing it before. I think that is, however, the beauty of God’s word – there is always something new to learn from it no matter how many times you’ve read it before!
