Human Trafficking… educate yourself and your family

You may have noticed the red “Redeemed” image to the right of my sidebar lately.

It’s a link to a series of articles my bloggy friend Kristi Stephens is running in conjunction with Women at Risk, International to educate all of us on human trafficking.

I’ve been reading her posts and, to be honest, quite disgusted with what I have learned.

How often young girls are sold into sexual slavery shocked me. And it is not just abroad or in ‘dirty,’ poor  places. Today’s post talks about trafficking in America and mentions that, according the the FBI, 100,000 girls, ages 9-19, are trafficked in commercial sexual exploitation in the U.S.

Woah, that is shocking. And then the post goes on to list the statistics in places like Ohio and Georgia… not just low-income, high-profile places.

This is a real problem that exists in our cities and towns, people. It needs to be addressed and stopped.

Please make time to stop by Kristi’s blog soon and read her series… But be prepared for how it might impact you.
