Ike has left the building… and he took our power

The eye of the storm has moved beyond our area.

Fortunately there hasn’t been any damage to our house and our kiddos aren’t worried. There are a few trees down and some rain forced its way into tiny cracks under the doors. But no flooding, no broken windows and also no power. The Weather Channel is reporting that the utility companies will begin repairs Monday.

When and where I will fly to next is still undecided, as is the the rest of the family plans.

Sorry I can’t say more. I can say that I am married to an amazing man, by the way. Thank you, God, for that incredible gift. How many men would encourage their wives to head out of town for a friend’s wedding at a time like this?

So, since I’m away…

Last night while the winds were tearing away at Houston I was out here in Vegas. I ended up talking to a few young men who just recently graduated college. I was the most senior of the bunch (by many years) and they asked about being married.

“When it is to the right person,” I told them, “It is fantastic. So go find her.”

And then I went on to debate scientology vs Christianity with one of the guys. Just another night in Vegas. (And did I EVER think I would be evangelizing in Las Vegas to someone who said he was a professional poker player?) I prayed for him this morning.
