Pray boldly and believe in His power

Scripture: Matthew 9:18

While he was saying this, a ruler came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.”

Observation: Even though this man’s daughter has already died, he still is asking Jesus for healing. And he believes completely that he can restore her life.

Application: How boldly do I ask for things? I ask but then say “Well, if it is your will.” He knows that he can do whatever he likes according to his will. He is all powerful.

If I want something, I need to ask boldly and believe boldly, as well. He’ll make it happen if my faith is true and, of course, if/ when it is in his plan. But he knows that.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for my wimpy prayers. Thank you for this reminder to pray big and bold prayers.

So here goes: Let everyone know your Son here on earth. Every one, really know Him, really know you. Take Satan’s power away. Only you can do this. So, please, use your disciples. Move us. Move others. And bring true joy to the world.

And here’s another one: Watch over my family’s travels. Bring us joy in the journeys and safety along the way. And we will know that you alone are responsible for both.

Okay, one more: Bring peace to all who are struggling. Let them see you, really see you through their frustration. Help them to find peace in your love amid their struggle and grow closer to you.

And Lord, keep me praying big and grow my faith. Forgive me when I pray without gusto. Guide me in praying with gusto for big and little things.

  1. If you want someone specific to pray for, please pray for my brother Steve. He needs to see God.
