Proverbs SOAP: Am I listen-worthy?

A Chapter of Proverbs a day…

Scripture: Proverbs 6:20

My son, keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

Observation: It is important to listen and follow as your parents have taught you.

Application: If the Bible says they these things are important, then I, as a mother, especially need to be sure that what I am teaching is honest, pure and led by God.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the privilege of becoming a mother. Please guide me through all the muck and confusion and direct me in your path so that I, too, may teach my children the way to follow you. I want to guide and instruct them as you would have me do. Please let me hear you and not be confused.  Thank you, again, for your trust in me, and also for caring enough to provide the direction I need.

  1. It was a common practice in our home to read a Proverb chapter a day. Each child would read a verse and we would circle around the group, so I kept their attention. This verse was one of our favorites and a constant reminder. I now only have two at home to do this with and one who can’t read, but there will be a day soon when he can join in on our round robin of reading Proverbs and I pray the four who have already left the nest have these words hidden in their heart. Thanks for the post.
