Psalm 83: A prayer for peace

Bible Study with MomsToolbox.comScripture: Psalm 83:1-3

O God, do not keep silence;

do  not hold your peace or be still, O God!

For behold, your enemies make an uproar;

those who hate you have raised their heads.

They lay crafty plans against your people;

they consult together against your treasured ones.

Observation:

Um. Oh WOW does this feel ever so true.

Application:

There is so much hate in the world. And the attacks of hate are dividing us a nation rather than pulling us together against evil. We are fighting ourselves instead of the enemy. We are allowing our country and people to fall for the enemy’s plans. We are killing ourselves. This hurts so much.

Prayer:

Oh, Father, I cannot help but to pray this Psalm today.

O, God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised your heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones.

Father God, help us to band together against evil. Help us to stop pointing fingers and yelling at others but instead to listen to other views, solutions that may be different from ours, help us to join together and listen. Be present in the solutions, Lord. Do not keep silence. Guide us. Show us your peaceful way of solving battles and empower us to follow them, Lord. I know there are a lot of bloody battles in the Bible in response to your teachings, but there is also a lot of love and kindness and listening in there, too. Jesus is an amazing, peaceful example to follow.

Help us to listen, to talk, to follow you and to stop the evil. Please don;t be silent. Please make yourself and your love known. Stop the enemy, Lord, and help us to stop acting on behalf of the enemy by fighting each other with words and actions.

Thank you, Father.

Amen.
