Psalms SOAP: Enjoying His grace and sharing about it

Day 25 of the Psalms in 60 Days

Today’s Reading: Psalms 65-67

Scripture: Psalms 67: 1-2

1May God be gracious to us and bless us

and make his face shine upon us,

2that your ways may be known on earth,

your salvation among all nations.

Observation: We want God to show us favor, that our lives might be good and that we might share the source of that with others.

Application: Sure, it’s easy to want good things… but what good things do you want? And when you receive them, do you credit the Lord for them or take credit yourself?

I believe this passage is reminding us to think about what is truly good and what blessings really are, in the eyes of God. Then I believe the psalmist is reminding us to accept grace and blessings, recognize them as gifts from God and then share our delight with others, by giving credit to He who blessed us.

Prayer: Lord, you continually bless me. Sometimes I recognize it at the time and sometimes I recognize it later and sometimes, I am sorry to say, I completely take those blessings for granted.

Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness to me, even when I don’t recognize it.

And thank you, Lord, for your gentle reminders to give credit where credit is due and praise your name to you and others in thanks for your many, many gifts.

Could I ride a bike from Houston to Austin without you? No way. Not without you making it possible for me to strengthen my body through training (and giving me the time to do so) and not without your constant whispers of support through the training process and riding process.

Could I parent without you? Not very well. You show me my mistakes and guide me to the resources and mentors I need to parent following your plan. And your plan really is the best plan.

Thank you, Lord, for countless blessings and grace. Please continue to guide me, bless me and teach me how to praise you, sharing your love with those around me.
