Psalms SOAP: I’m calling out to Him!

Day 20 of the Psalms in 60 Days

Today’s Reading: Psalms 48-50

I’m sorry if this disappoints any of you, but today I’m getting a little casual in the SOAP format.

This is the verse that struck me today:

Psalms 50:15

and call upon me in the day of trouble;

I will deliver you, and you will honor me.

I am just tired. I am overwhelmed. And I am feeling like I can’t make even a dent in the the list of things that need to get done.

And I know I’m not alone in this sea of frustration.

I have been calling out to the Lord for help and inspiration and motivation and my frustration has just grown and my to-do list hasn’t become any smaller.

I am irritated with myself.

And I am letting others’ actions irritate me, too.

I don’t want to be this way.

And I know those feeling the same way, or similar, don’t want to feel this way, either.

So here’s my prayer:

Lord, I am calling out to you today for all of us who are feeling trouble. Reach down, Lord, and wrap your arms around us. Help us to feel your encouragement and your power and your love. Forgive us that we long for more today. You already give us so much more than we deserve. But I am asking, if you would, to please give us the extra push we need.  Show us how to get done what needs to get done. Show us what to eliminate and give us the courage to say no and cross it off the list without looking back. Guide us, Lord, in being realistic with our expectations of ourselves. And keep us grounded in you, Lord, seeking our worth from you alone, not from what we think we accomplish here on earth. Help us, Lord, to be the women you have designed us to be, with our priorities and energies placed where you would have them.

Thank you, Lord for this reassurance that when we cry out to you, you will deliver us. And we will honor you.

Amen.

  1. Call out to Him and ask Him what is truly overwhelming you and if it should be on your list at all. Sometimes we get overwhelmed because we have taken something on that He didn’t call us to do (and He doesn’t promise to provide us grace for that)…praying for you and thankful for your prayers and friendship!

Listen to Him and not you. Most of us have felt the way you are feeling, especially if you are a wife, Mother, and friend. We are torn many ways and sometimes forget to remember us. I pray that you will find your way and find the peace you are looking for.
