Show grace. Proverbs 17

If you are reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with us, our reading for today (Thursday) is Proverbs 17.

Here is what I heard:

Scripture: Proverbs 17: 9

He who covers over an offense promotes love,

but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Observation:

If you can show grace when you have been wronged, then you will also be showing love. Repeat offenses, however, can destroy relationships.

Application:

Try your best to look over it when you are wronged and still be kind. However, that doesn’t mean it is okay to do offend or to do it repeatedly.

Prayer:

Lord, please guide me both when I offend or act inappropriately and when others act that way toward me. Of course I would prefer to not mess up at all, but when I do, please guide me in acting in grace and love, just as you treat me. And please help me to show this to my children.
