SOAP: A model of teamwork

Scripture:  Deuteronomy 1: 9

“At that time I told you, “You are too great a burden for me to carry all by myself.

Observation: Moses was having a hard time hearing and judging all the people’s problems and disagreements, yet he knew it was his responsibility to oversee everyone. Moses ultimately was advised to appoint others whom he could rely on to help him

Application: Moses knew his burden was too much to bear alone, so he sought guidance and enlisted trustworthy help. Perhaps God wants all of his to make realistic assessments of what we can and cannot do and seek help when it is needed. And when we are followers, we need to respect the helpers as designated by our leaders and go to them, as is possible, reserving only the biggest issues for our leaders directly.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for setting an example of teamwork for us to follow, Help me to realize my limitations when necessary and lean on trusted helpers. And thank you, Lord, for providing helpers for those who lead me, too, so that those leaders may not be overburdened. Please be with my pastor and his team, and all pastors and helpers who serve you. Please continue to guide them and strengthen them and show them how to continue to build more and stronger disciples of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord.

  1. Great post! I pray for our pastor and associate pastor, but then sometimes forget to pray for Sunday school teachers and such. They need our prayers as well as they teach our children. One thing that would also be nice which I have done in the past is to ask how we can help them this week.
